My older daughter loved this movie when she was in preschool. Even though there is some drinking by characters, the rest of the movie is worthwhile. Wonderful musical score and dance scenes. Anne Murray and Andy Rooney are wonderful! What child can resist the combination of cartoon dragon and real people? I bought this copy for my grandson Elliot and expect him to thoroughly enjoy it!

The best balance of fun for children, adults and families of all ages. The all-star cast cannot be beaten! A modern day classic with a message promoting "differences" and "diversity" in the most non-preaching and highly entertaining fashion possible. A masterpiece. The dragon is so cute and funny! You will laugh, cry and sing-a-long. Pete's dragon reminds of the movie "ET", but with the great, strong, gutsy and pleasing voice of the lovable Ms. Helen Reddy.

I never saw this as a kid, but watched it recently...I had always heard it was a letdown, or second rate. That isn't fair. True, it doesn't have the wit, pace, or taste of MARY POPPINS, but on its own terms it has much to recommend....the animated dragon is the thing, and it works....you root for him and laugh with him. The human cast is fine....Best of the bunch is Jim Dale, who outdoes himself as the villain....The only true oddity here is the leading lady. Helen Reddy, known for singing rather than acting, seems less than "brazzledazzle" when reading her lines. If you've never seen PETE, or it has been awhile since you have....take another peak.

I remember when I was young watching this movie.. Such a neat idea back then to mix cartoon with real people. I loved watching it then and I love it even more now.. I watch it with my two young nephews. A great classic all should see :"

This is a great dvd if you are a kid or a kid at heart. Very heart warming and the songs and effects were outstanding for the time. Disney does a great job with their bonus features too so the kids will have a blast!
