Overview

Maverick filmmaker Robert Rodriguez details the violent struggle between a ravenous army of zombie-like humanoids who have taken control of the planet and the remaining survivors who refuse to go down without a fight. A dangerous government experiment has unleashed an abominable contamination that turns normal people into murderous mutants. Now, as an infinitely multiplying horde of frenzied psychotics flood the Texas plains, a dangerous outlaw named Wray Freddy Rodriguez, a sexy stripper named Cherry Rose McGowan, an unscrupulous smuggler named Abby Naveen Andrews, and the curiously incapacitated Dr. Dakota Block Marley Shelton must try and make their way to the helicopter that could provide their only means of escaping to a place untouched by this nightmarish scourge that threatens to wipe out all of humankind. This nonstop action-horror hybrid originally was released as part of Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's ambitious Grindhouse double bill.

The new Night of the Living Dead

Planet Terror is a great Zombie movie made to look like the Grindhouse movies of old. Filled with non-stop action, horror, blood & guts this is a highly enjoyable movie for zombie fans. Featuring commentary, trailers and a special done at Comic-Con 2006, grab this gret movie directed by Robert Rodriguez.

    Crazyass Insane, but Very Addicting.

It may be one of the weirdest and outrageous films Ive ever since yet I found it way entertaining. Remember that this movie is not to be taken seriously, from the dumb humor to the insane amounts of gore. It crazy but a totally fun zombie flikc!...plus Rose is SOOOOO good in the film. She rox!

    Grindhouse Splatterfest !!

Looking for a great Zombie movie that does not take itself too seriously, then check out Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse film, "Planet Terror"! The movie starts out with the infamous movie trailer " Machete". It would be great if it was actually for a real movie. Next, comes sexy Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan) dancing at a Go-Go Club. We move on to a meeting between soldiers and mercenaries... Abby (Naveen Andrews of Lost) is a scientist who has manipulated some potential "death mist". In an ensuing struggle with Soldier Muldoon (Brue Willis), the green death mist is released into the local countryside. Various characters are introduced, as the stories slowly merge into one. There are some great character actors in the movie, including El Wray (Freddy Rodriguez) as the anti-hero in the film who rescues Cherry, Doctor William ( Josh Brolin), his wife Dakota (Marley Shelton) who has a lesbian lover, Tammy (Fergie). Two other great actors are Jeff Fahey as JT, the owner of the Bone Shack and Michael Biehn as Sherrif Hague. The mist turns the local townspeople into the zombies (known as Sickos), who go about eating anything moving! The ragtag group of survivors fight off the Sickos at the Bone Shack, and then encounter Muldoon and his military. They are taken to a military base where explosions abound, body parts are flying, and Quintan Tarrantino makes an appearance as a deranged rapist/soldier. I enjoyed the acting, as it seems like the actors had a great time filming this movie. There are some great lines in the movie, especially by Rose McGowan and Jeff Fahey. Blood is flying everywhere, and there are some great kill scenes including the use of a helicopter, and Naveen's character. There are some great extra's to the 2 disc edition, which is usually the case in a Rodriguez DVD. Disc One has commentary by Robert Rodriguez and the international trailer, and 4 additional trailers. Disc Two: * "Bad Ass Babes of Planet Terror" - Basically the casting of the female actors in the film. I did not even realize Fergie was in this film, until I saw this.. Thought she looked familiar though. * "The Guys of Planet Terror" - same thing as with the women * "Casting Rebel" - The casting of Robert's son, Rebel, as the son of Dakota and Dr. William. Robert explains the are 2 different versions of the film, where his son lives and the theatrical one where he dies. * "The Stunts of Planet Terror" - usual coverage of how stunts are done. * "Friend/Doctor/Real Estate Agent" - How Robert casted some of the people around him into the film. I did not mind at all that the 2 Grindhouse films were separated, as some of the reviewers did here. Great zombie movie with what you would expect from a Rodriguez movie !

Its A Shame No One Saw These Good Movies!

It sucks that they did poorly at the box office, because both movies were good. I prefer Planet Terror due to the zombie element, but Death Proof is good as well. I hate that they with-held the trailers probably to add them in a future release and make more money to even out the loss of a box office pay-off. Too bad! These movies rock!

Happy and Sad at the same time!

I am so excited that Death and Planet Terror is finally going to be available to own so that I might watch it again and again and again. If you enjoy mindless, hardcore fun with guts and gore then you will love this movie! Unfortunately Death Proof will not be released with it and I am interested to see how the formatting will change the effect of the movies - hopefully the trailers are still there! I wait in anticipation...I have already pre-ordered mine!As soon as they both come out I am going to watch them back to back!

    DVD Release

Now that the missing reels are added, the faux trailers are only accessed in the special features, and the films "PT and DP"are separate from each other it takes the humor and the fun out of the original "Grindhouse." I still recommend seeing this if you love horror, gore, and cheesy flicks.

gun leg up for Planet Terror

although once again sad that this film won't join the other "DEATH PROOF" on DVD, this action sleaze flick is by far the best thing i've seen this year! Rose Mcgowan comes with a machine gun leg, zombies invade the universe, and Rose McGowan AKA "cherry darling" fights to the death with sleaze, exploitation and all. Of course, not two seconds of this film is any bit believable, but rodriguez makes up for it with his intense wild directing style. Don't miss it...
