The big-screen debut of country singer George Strait is a familiar tale of a star returning to his roots, a route traveled the same year by John Mellencamp in Falling From Grace 1992. Strait plays Dusty Chandler, one of the hottest performers in country music. Dusty feels that his elaborate stage show is overwhelming his music, a suspicion confirmed one night when he forgets several bars of a chart-topping hit and his fans don't even notice. Dusty feels that his elaborate stage show is overwhelming his music, a suspicion confirmed one night when he forgets several bars of a chart-topping hit and his fans don't even notice. Disillusioned, Dusty tells his manager Lula Lesley Ann Warren and best buddy Earl John Doe that he's taking a break. After shaving his beard and cutting off his ponytail, Dusty heads for the small farm town where he grew up, visiting his wise old grandmother Molly McClure and ending up at the ranch of the Tucker family, where nobody recognizes him. He becomes a hired hand, earning the respect of owner Ernest Rory Calhoun and falling in love with Ernest's daughter Harley Isabel Glasser, a woman determined to save the struggling spread with victory in a Las Vegas rodeo. When Dusty learns that Lula has secretly replaced him onstage with her boyfriend Kyle Chandler, he stages a showdown that wins Harley's affections.

    There is just SOMEthing

about this movie that drags a person in. You should definitly make sure your a fan of George Straight if you are thinking about sitting through this movie because this isn't a life changing, heart wrenching movie. Definitly nothing original or unique. Except the man acting in it! This movie is just an hour and a half of a fine man, a good lesson, and some amazing music!!! Watching this makes me feel like the love in this movie does happen. Meeting someone you have an instant connection to, like you've been friends forever happens so rarely it was nice to see it in this movie. Making me hopeful, though not unrealistic about loves possibilities. Plus George is just sooooo cute to stare at for that period. When he falls out of the chair while the girl passes by!!! Hahaha ClaSSiC:)

George heats up the screen in this romantic tale

Dustyt(George Strait) the superstar country singer finally has enough of the smoke the lights and the problems involved in being a performer. While on his spontaneous hiatus he meets the woman of his dreams Ms. Harley Tucker (Isabel Glasser). Along the way Earl,(John Doe) Dusty's best friend tracks him down. Dusty's manager struggles to cover for him using the roadie (Kyle Chandler). The story line is somewhat blah but George Strait makes up for it with his good looks and gorgeous voice.

Great movie if you love George!

Pure Country is a great movie if you love George. I first saw it when I was 9. The tale is a classic love story. The music is what holds the movie together. The plot is kind of obvious however the sight of George fighting in the rain is worth it.
