Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Excavated from the 1980s time capsule, this feature film spin-off of the Hallmark TV-and-toy franchise will "make every morning a rainbow day." Rainbow Brite lives, naturally, in Rainbowland, where she monitors the seasons on Earth. That means, for example, convincing Stormy to give Winter a rest and allow Spring to commence. But something is amiss. The snow isn't melting. Worse, a supremely spoiled princess covets "the greatest diamond in the universe," which would mean the end of color. Closer to home, two hapless villains, Murky and Lurky, scheme to make things gloomy with their "Supergloom boomer." But with the help of the ancient sage Orin on the planet Spectra, Rainbow Brite's rainbow-maned horse, Starlight, a comical sprite named Tink, a space boy and his rocket-powered robotic horse, and Brian, the only one on Earth who can see Rainbow, all will be beautiful once again. It's all a bit icky in a Care Bears sort of way, but children of the '80s will get a warm nostalgic glow, while a new generation will bask in the shimmering colors, enchanting characters, and pleasant songs.

I saw this in the theater almost 20 years ago when I was five or six years old and now my own daughter can enjoy Rainbow Brite as much as I did!

I was about 5 when i first saw rainbow brite, and i remember watch this movie when the last time the movie was aired on HBO in '92. This is a good movie for any little girl and people, like me, who would want to share their childhood with their daughters.

I'm actually watching it right now! I love this film, brings back memories. This is a great good natured cartoon that is still enjoyable even in adulthood.....man I feel old! A must have for any child of the '80s!

this show should definatly be put back on air. It shows little kids good and bad. N Rainbow Brite is too cute to be only seen in movies played in the home. She needs to be on the T.V.

Rainbow Brite is simply the best there ever was and ever will be. I watched it when I was little, and now I am looking to buy everyone I find. If anyone knows where to find other Rainbow Brite titles please email me. Rainbow Brite rules!

Rainbow brite is simply *the* best out there, all of the cartoons today are so washed out. I love rainbow brite, I have since I was little and right now I'm trying to get the episodes.

I watched Rainbow Brite since I was 6 yrs. old. I never thought any one would remember this cartoon. Thank God I was wrong! When I saw the reviews from all these people, tears ran down my cheeks. It's good to know there are still people out there who try to preserve the glorious cartoons of the '80's. Thank you all.

I loved this movie when I was very young. It is a shame that it isn't showing on tv anymore. I would recommend this along with the related title listed below to any family!

I used to watch Raibow Brite when I was little...I am now 19 years old and still remeber how much I loved it. I compare this series to all of the different shows out there today (eg. Pokemon) and there is simply no comparison. I loved Rainbow Brite so much when I was litlle that my family used to call me that all of the time. I also have videotape of myself at my 7th birthday getting a Rainbow Brite doll and screaming so loud because I was so excited. I am currently trying to get all of the episodes of Rainbow Brite so that when I have kids they will be able to experience what I loved so much as a child.

I watched these Rainbow Brite movies since I was 4. It has been 9 years, and I still love to watch them. I think any child would love to watch Rainbow Brite any time. I take it with me when I watch kids of ages 4,6,7,8,9,11, and they love it to death. They all have a great moral that any one can pick out (that is good for young
