At the outset of the show, the family picked up and moved to a ranch in California's San Fernando Valley. Episodes centered around Amos's curmudgeonly habit of meddling in others' affairs - whether they liked it or not. Also on hand were grandson Luke (Richard Crenna) and his wife Kate (Kathy Nolan), Luke's sister Aunt Hassie (Lydia Reed), and Hassie and Luke's kid brother, 11-year-old Little Luke (Michael Winkleman. This box set contains all 39 half-hour episodes of Season 1, as they originally aired on ABC from October 3, 1957 through June 26, 1958. Installments include: The Life of the Party, It Pays to be Poor, Kate's Career and The Corn-Eating Contest.
