RedDirector: Robert Schwentke
A group of former government assassins fights back against the CIA after they're targeted for knowing too much in this adaptation of Warren Ellis' acclaimed DC Comics graphic novels. Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) used to be a hired gun for the CIA. Along with Joe (Morgan Freeman), Marvin (John Malkovich), and Victoria (Helen Mirren), Frank's specialty was carrying out contracts that the government didn't want the public to know about. These days, Frank and his old gang are all retired, but the powers that be are still concerned that they know too much, and dispatch a team of top assassins to ensure their silence. Now, Frank and his former team members realize that their only hope for survival is to break into CIA headquarters and expose the truth. But once they're in, the group uncovers evidence of a massive cover-up that promises to rock the very foundation of our government. Karl Urban, Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfuss, and Ernest Borgnine co-star.

This is my latest guilty pleasure. The Barnes & Noble overview neglects to mention the delightful performance by Mary-Louise Parker, who demonstrates the power of going all in with no preparation at all, but with a fearless joy of living. She often steals the show from an all-star cast.
Retirement sucks, as anyone can tell you. For former black-ops CIA agents, the inactivity would drive a person insane. Bruce Willis (Frank Moses) is suffering from that insanity. He's a loner, his house lacking all the essential necessities to make it a home, and he's bored out of his mind. He doesn't know how to blend into the neighborhood, pitifully viewing the landscape for what is expected. His desperation, his loneliness, and the inactivity of retirement leads him to tear up his retirement check and call an ever patient, equally lonely customer service agent in Kansas City. The conversations with Sarah (Parker) are the highlight of his month and, through these conversations, he attempts to become more 'normal'. Someone should tell Frank that a man reading a romance novel is not considered 'normal'. This retirement that eats at Frank's nerves is shattered when a hit squad attacks his house in the middle of the night. Frank, as skilled as ever, kills the assassins. Decades of training leads him to believe they have tapped his phone lines, and he's off to Kansas to save his phone buddy Sarah. Her reluctance to be saved (imagine someone you've only ever spoken to being in your home when you come back from an excrutiatingly boring date!) causes Frank to kidnap her. Sarah goes on a wild ride with Frank while he attempts to discover who is trying to kill him and why. He travels cross country to find the members of his old black ops team, who are all equally retired and bored to death. Meanwhile, the viewer discovers the CIA is the machine behind the attempt on Frank's life. Morgan Freeman (Joe Black) is at his suave self, living in a retirement community and suffering from stage 4 cancer. John Malkovich (LSD paranoid Marvin) hides in tunnels and carries a stuffed pig under his arm. Helen Mirren proves that mature women can be sexy carrying a high powered rifle, and arranging flowers in a Better Homes and Garden style home. Her comment about taking an 'odd job on the side' still makes me laugh. This is an all-star cast of superb actors that deliver an action-packed, fast paced, comedic, and highly entertaining film. The twists and turns are thrilling. I loved every moment of it and it proves that even the retirees have a magnetic bit of life still left in them.
Great movie! Helen Mirren nearly stole the show! It was so much fun to see all these great actors together having a wonderful time! And the lines were instant classics! A must see!
I remember when this came out in theaters, I thought it would be dippy and we never went to see it. Then one day I walk into my parent's room and there's my dad watching this movie that he finds absolutely hysterical. The writing is witty and flows well the actors are magnificent, Brian cox (Ivan) has proved once again that he can perform any role you set in front of him and make it fantastic. John Malkovitch's excitement over "Getting the pig" is bewilderingly funny. Helen Mirrin makes getting shot in the hip look good, though it did ruin her dress, and that while "life sometimes is complicated" Love will be right there when you're cornered by a swat team. Morgan Freeman makes stage 4 (one foot in the grave) liver cancer look like nothing. Bruce Willis shows you how to demolish your house with a hand full of bullets and a frying pan. I recommend this movie to anyone who needs a good laugh!
Though admitadely it's not one of the most amazing action movies, this movie is still pretty awesome! It has an exceptional cast and several great action scenes, plus the story is cool and quite witty. I very much enjoy action comedy movies of this nature. This is also based off a DC graphic novel, though I have never actually read it, so I can't really compare it with this movie, but one of these days I suppose I will probably look into it. If you're into graphic novels & comics, you may want to read it first and then watch the movie. Despite whatever comparison there is between each, this movie in general is a lot of fun to watch.
What can I say... this film is awesome. Helen Mirren with a gun, Malcovich as a paranoid lunatic and Willis in one of the best roles he has done! By far one of the most enjoyable pointless films I have ever seen. Oh, and lets not forget Richard Dreyfus' performance. Let me just say again... absolutely fabulous!
Not one of my favorite Bruce Willis movies, but it was a good watch.
¿R.E.D¿ is a very good movie because, it is very funny, it has good actors and it is full of action. The five main characters are Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren. The director of this movie is Robert Schwentke. Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber are the screenplay writers. Warren Ellis and Cully Hammer are the graphic novel writers. And together they wrote the script for ¿R.E.D¿. My expectations for this movie was that it would be a good action move and keep me entertained. I thought it would be very funny and at some points sad. I have heard that some people think that it was not a good movie and some say that it was the best movie they ever saw. The people that said it was a good move said that it was full of action and it had some sensitive spots in it. Robert Schwentke also produced ¿The Time Travelers Wife.¿ Bruce Willis also played in the ¿Die Hard¿ series, and ¿The Sixth Sense.¿ Do you like action movie about retired C.I.A agents? There is a seen in the movie where the main characters are by a loading dock and the enemies try and blow them up with a bazooka. One of the main characters pulls out his weapon and fires at the shell. The bullet and the shell hit in the middle of the dock and blow up because the bullet hit the shell head on and split it. This movie is very entertaining. This movie will keep you on the edge of your seat. ¿R.E.D¿ means Retired and Extremely Dangerous. ¿R.E.D¿ is a very funny movie. I think it is because of the cast they have very good actors playing the main characters. The movie also takes place in many deferent places. The movie has many, many different funny parts but one is the part when the oldest of the main characters runs down the middle of the street with a bomb strapped to his front. In the end all that has happened, makes ¿R.E.D¿ one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. They had really good actors in this movie. Bruce Willis was one of the most funniest I had seen in this movie. Morgan Freeman was a good too but I think Bruce was a better actor then the others because he knew his lines and he could say the funniest things with a straight face. I think that alone makes him a very, very good actor. This movie has unbelievable amount of action in it. Almost every seen has some sort of action in it. Weather it is someone trying to kill another person, or old friends seeing one another again. This movie is worth the time it takes to watch it. This is the only movie that I would let my kids watch. All in this movie is a heart stopping thriller. I would say not for the elderly watch only because they might laugh to death but that is about it. I recommend it for thirteen and older only because of some language and the violent. What would you do if you were a retired C.I.A agents? As my Thesis states this movie is funny, has good actors and all in all it has the most action I have seen in a movie yet. Tell me what you would do if you were a retired C.I.A agent, I would really like to know.
