Overview

A group of intrepid space travelers prove that folks have become no smarter three million years in the future in this DVD box set, which collects the entire fourth season of the British sci-fi comedy series Red Dwarf. The material on Red Dwarf: Series Four has been transferred to disc in the full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and the audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo. The dialogue is in English, with no multiple-language options included. Plenty of bonus materials have been included with this edition, including commentary tracks for each episode from members of the cast, a documentary on the making of the series, additional special-effects footage, isolated music tracks, previews of upcoming episodes, and three additional featurettes: "Ace Rimmer -- A Life in Lamé," "Lurve," and "Can't Smeg, Won't Smeg."

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
Time travel, parallel universes, and a host of other sci-fi tropes become fodder for comedy in the BBC's wacky, long-running series Red Dwarf. Writers-creators Rob Grant and Doug Naylor mold a sci-fi sitcom that follows the exploits of Lister (Craig Charles), a deep-space miner who emerges from stasis 3 million years in the future to find that his only companions are Rimmer (Chris Barrie), a hologram of his dead bunkmate; Cat (Danny John-Jules), a humanoid who evolved from his pet cat; and Holly, the ship's computer. Maintaining casting and story changes made in Series 3, Series 4 finds the sharp comedy writing in comfort zone, aided by a larger budget thanks to the show's success. Indeed, the show became further and further out of this world yet pushed the comic imagination to limits where no man had gone before.
