I thought this movie was very good. who cares if it's not like the game, it's still good. yeah their special effects aren't the best, but the movie is still worth a check. yes they did put every monster out except for one, but it's still satifies me. In my opinion it's a break away from the game. It would have been better if they added more monsters, but like I said, it's still good. worth a rent
Resident Evil the movie is no doubt a tribute to the game series. It closely follows the game's story and even added a few twists for the veteran gamer. Zombies in this film have a new edge that old films do not give them, and since they threw in a good old Licker it makes it the most interesting film-of-a-game to date. I was surprised that they missed out a few vital elements that make Resident Evil what it is, which cost them a star. Overall- 'Watch it!'
This movie is awesome. The best part is the laser room where they get cut in half.
The best thing about Resident Evil is that it combines a great plot, jokes, scientific mumbo-jumbo, and action. Not only does it have these things, but it also combines them well. Also, the jokes come at just the right time, and though the effects aren't too good, the sets and transition from scene to scene is.
This movie is an amazing movie! The movie is a good action movie, that almost anyone can enjoy!
This is a thriller, sudden shock, creepy scenes, and some pretty interesting stuff, (you'll know what i'm talking about after you witness the ''laser'' scene. If you have never heard of Resident Evil, you will still enjoy this, to me it's like a crazy horror film mixed with Swordfish. But if your a Resident Evil fan, BUY THIS NOW! It has some key trats you'll compare with the series, (eg. look at the name of the train), but also other things that will have you dropping your jaw, (but I don't want to give the coolest parts awat). So either way, pick this up, it rocks. The DVD has features which make it even better than just the excellent movie.
THE MOVIE WAS GREAT AND I LOVED THE ENDING. I JUST HOPE THERE WILL JUST BE A RESIDENT EVIL 2 LIKE THE GAME.TOO BAD RAIN DIE AND THE WHOLE TEAM.
The action related to the games is the best. The story line meets perfectly with the main sorty line of the games and books. Definetly a must buy if you are a Resident Evil fan!
The only creatures that looked scary was the licker and the zombie dogs, the zombies didn't look as real as the ones in the dead trilogy.
Resident Evil is one of my favorite films because the storyline is great, the special effects are excellent, and the cast was phenomenal. I really loved the whole Special Ops thing. I first saw the movie 5 days ago, and I am still mad because Rain died. I don't think the sequel will be half as good without her somewhat thugish presence. Overall the movie was good, but I am VERY disguested.
Resident Evil is the most sexiest, scariest and the dropdead ''Oh my god I think I'm gonna barf!'' coolest movie yet!!! I'm haapy and a little frighten at the fact Resident Evil has now been turned from a video game to a live movie!! Thanks a million!!!
Resident evil is an excellent movie which me and some other mates watched with me.One person hated it and said the zombies didn't look real! You can't get much more real than that.Great film.
Rule number one when watching a movie that is based off of a Video Game is this: NEVER compare the video game to the movie. A movie is a movie, and a game is a game. You never hear anyone comparing video games based off of movies to the movies do you? (ie: James Bond & Harry Potter games). Resident Evil, as a movie, is excellent, with chilling moments, gripping situations and a very good storyline. The actors all did well in their respective roles and I especially enjoyed Milla! They slowly allowed you to understand the why's and who's of the plot as the story developed, without giving away too much in the beginning. The sets and special effects were all up to par and well done. It is ''The Night Of The Living Dead'' of the new generation...and deserves it rightful place in the genre. The ending was great, and I look forward to a sequel. Why only 4 stars then you ask? Well, as with most action or horror movies today, there is a certain level of unbelievability which you can never attain to. I reserve my 5 stars for the likes of critical acclaim, which obviously, Resident Evil will never get. RENT OR BUY THIS ONE TODAY...It is one of the best of its kind!
Th Resident Evil was awesome with the content, but i have one little thing to add. Where is Jill Valentine? Where is Chris Redfield? and the rest of all the S.T.A.R.S that went in to the mansion. It was an awesome movie but why would you want to add new characters to it like to team that went in was nothing like the team from the first game. I would also like to know where the big bad Tyrant is and why some say the antidote to the Tyrant-Virus(T-Virus) is the G-Virus because if anybody ever paid any attention to the second game the G-Virus was made by William Birkin as a more potent virus the mutated human cells at a much greater rate than the T-Virus does. Not only that but the plot in the game was much more intense than what they had in the movie because there was a much bigger traitor than there was in the movie. Albert Wesker had played a really big part in the first game as captian of the S.T.A.R.S team, but was also a big part of the plot i don't see why they wouldn't add him in along with Chris and Jill heck even add in Barry, Rebecca, and Brad because they were also survivers of the Arklay Mountains Incident. I just think they should of tried to stay true to the game not change chracters and some content.
When I saw this title on the shelf of the video rental store, i thought it's about time to check it out. But first, I check the back of the video case to see reviews and etc. I read the info about the movie's plot and cast. One line said 'eye-poping special effects'. So I'm thinking, this will be pretty good. The results were disapointing. And I thought The Mummy Returs had the worst special effects. The special effects looked more like claymation. Try watching Chicken Run with Downsyndrome and get drunk. The story is different from the game, along with the characters. But this does not bother me. It's the special effects and a little bit of the storyline. Now, it's time to review House of the Dead and possibly get disapointed
I gave it two stars for effects, but if you don't know the storyline, you have no idea about what's going on for the first 40 minutes of the movie. A lot of sequences were slow and not descript. If you don't know the game, DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE.
I've seen a lotta horror movies and they've been nothin'but lameiods. But this one is the ultimate #1''Oh my god I luv this show'' goriest movie yet!!! THANKS!!!!! P.S. I hope RESIDENT EVIL2 comes out soon and I do mean SOON!!!
I love this movie, its my favorite.I am so glad they made the game into movies. And to any REsident EVil fan that doesn't like the movie, I just have to say how can you call yourself a fan of the game . To be a true fan you have to like the movie even if you think it is horrible.
This movie rocks my world. I am always in the mood to watch it. Finally a action flick that really kicks butt.
I have seen movies that were based of video games but resident evil has to be the best yet. I own it on DVD and the special features are great. Hopefuly they make Resident Evil 2 soon cause i wanna see what is going to happen to that guy that got his arm slpit open by the licker near the end of the movie. well i know what is going to happen to him if they make a sequal to the the movie. The graphics where awsome in this movie and if the get the same guy for the sequal that did the graphics for the first one the sequal will be just as good.
The Resident Evil movie was in my opinion excellent for one exception, the licker. Unfortunatly the licker looked as digital in the film as it did in the game. However this didn't ruin the film, the zombies looked good (if you know what I mean) and the scene in the laser room was very cool. Looking forward to the sequel.
Well I really liked the movie...but I didn't give this movie the last 2 stars for 2 reasons....1:I feel, along with many others, that this movie didn't do a very good job with following the guidelines of the resident evil games or books...and 2: I think they should have thrown a few more of Umbrella's twisted, mutated, experiments at the team....hopefully the next movie will be alot more satisfying....
In my book, there are three types of movies. Bad commercial garbage, good commercial garbage and art/oscar contenders. Resident Evil is good commercial garbage. It's fast paced, full of suspense and stylish. As for the story, Resident Evil is Night of the Living Dead for the year 2002.
I was really surprised that this movie had so little action in it after watching it. It was a decent movie, but certainly didn't meet my expectations.
The movie was tired five minutes into it. Although I did not expect much from this movie, I expected at least a little preparation. It seemed like the script was written as they were filming. If you can keep up a steady jog, you have nothing to fear from the lackluster zombies. There are some references to the video game that avid players may enjoy.
