Richard Simmons: Sweatin' to the Oldies

( 16 )

Overview

This invigorating aerobic workout was among the first of its kind, incorporating the principles of dance and group aerobics into one, 90 minute home-video release designed for average people rather than fitness fanatics. Led by the charming and approachable Richard Simmons, the routines are set to such rock and roll classics as "Great Balls of Fire," "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," and "Petty Sue." ~ Cammila Collar

    True to It's Title!

If you are looking for exciting, this is not the tape for you. It is slow and methodical but it really works. I didn't have to work very hard but I was sweating. I would have been happier with something with a little more "jump" but at the end of the day, the tape lived up to its title. The music is great and Richard Simmons is as entertaining as ever. His routines won't hurt you and they are easy to follow.

Simmons is the best motivator for health in the World!!

In the eighties I was the charge RN on an adolescent psychiatric lock up unit for teens with problems...rarely true psychiatric diagnosis, most were just troubled kids from bad homes . I would put these Richard Simmons tapes "vhs then" on and exercise with the girls as part of their NC State planned exercise time per day. Many of them lost weight, ate better, and started to care about themselves more carefully where they had previously thought themselves unworthy. Pretty soon the younger boys 12 to 14 decided they wanted to do this routine instead of their workout with the unit therapists. We had a blast! I got in shape easily every time I had a group that would participate in my encouragement to just try Richard Simmons. I love him for what he has done for America!!! Another story goes with the adult psych unit. I was sent there occasionally as a nurse, and I used the Simmons relaxation tapes with classical music. I owned all 3 VHS tapes. Wow! The older men really got into this after making fun of my suggestion. Guess it beat sitting around "complaining" about the woes of life all day. Simmons can only make your life better and give you a break from the doldrums. A GREAT WAY TO GET YOUR AEROBICS! FUN! I will purchase this new set of Simmons. Cannot go wrong, especially for those who like the OLDIES music.

A great beginner's exercise tape for all sizes!

Richard uses catchy ''baby-booming'' tunes of old to make you forget that you're actually exercising! Multicultural dancers are of all sizes and show great enthusiasm. Richard is fun as usual. This tape is for beginners who need proof that they can actually exercise and have fun. Inspirational surprise at end of tape!

    great motivation

i manage a campground and it is one of the best motivational videos. the ladies love the music and i think it inspires them to exercise. i am 46 and i smoked, drank. and i decided to join the ladies. to my surprise they were in a lot better shape than i could have ever been in. i am active. i walk the beach, i clean condos with my business, i manage an rv park, but none of the things i did were cardiovasciolar. I spent 3 minutes on a tread mill with my pulse at 100 before i even got on it and it soared to 140. i am 46 years old. hello! being active is one thing but there are differnt kinds of active, my doctors asked me....your active ...oh they say i was active ...yeh!!!!your video has helped me, i was huffing and puffing half way thru, 65-70 year old women out lasted me, we enjoy the video today together. they pump me up and keep me going. i am thankful for them. they are an inspiration to me. you were an inspiration to me till i went tot your website. today 1-29-03 you would have been the greatest inspiration on dr phil. i normally don't watch these shows but you could have made a big differecne in some of these overweight peoples lifes. they need help. some i felt compelled to help myself . others i did not feel sorry for, they created their own problem and don't want to take ownership sincerely cheri
