Yes, on the surface, it may seem like just another sci-fi/action movie. But this is one thats a lot smarter than it seems at first glance. exploring themes of humanity, violence, media, and corporate greed, its just as relevent now (if not more so) than it was at the time it was made.

It's among my favorite in sci-fi/action, and among some of my first choices of old skool favorites to upgrade to blue ray...among the ranks of others such as Terminator 2, Independance Day, Men in Black, and several others. This movie was pretty well restored on blue ray and certainly looks better than the DVD did...and I still only have a regular TV, so that's saying something. The sound is much improved too. Not only is this movie a great sci fi concept, containing some decent acting and great action, but it's also deeper than that. It explores themes of humanity, media, and corporate greed within society, even a dystopic society...and as lunchboxmonkey said before me, and I agree...the ideas expanded upon within the movie are even more prevelant in this day and age...and this movie was made back in 1987. The acting wasn't half bad either. I like Peter Weller, and especially Kurtwood Smith...who played the role of nemesis Clarence Boddicker quite well I thought. Kurtwood has been in some great movies, and who couldn't love him as Red Foreman in That 70s Show? LoL! Gotta love it! If you are a sci-fi/action buff and have never seen this, you are missing out! Sure, its pretty old skool, as far as special effects & whatnot are concerned, but it's a great movie! Don't listen to any of those haters! Check this out! If you have already seen this before and are a fan, and are like me & planning to upgrade to high def, I don't think I need to tell you that this is a must own on blue ray! Get on it! >:-)

By far this has to be the worst film of all-time. The plot is so stupid and not to mention the horrible acting. After seeing this film many years ago, I felt like an idiot because I actually put myself through that horrible experience. Please do not waste any time of your life by watching this movie. I'd rather watch the Barbie DVD Collection.
