Overview

During training, a member of the first manned mission to Mars is injured, and NASA chooses a replacement, spaced-out spacecraft designer Fred Z. Randall (Canadian stand-up comic Harland Williams), to team with cocky crew captain William "Wild Bill" Overbeck (William Sadler), efficient mission specialist Julie Ford (Jessica Lundy), and trained chimp Ulysses (Raven). Mission controller Bud Nesbitt (Beau Bridges) backs Fred, but flight-director Paul Wick (Jeffrey DeMunn) has doubts. En route to Mars, Fred's frenetic antics become a threat, but he wins respect with his navigational savvy. Filmed at Houston locations, including the Johnson Space Center, under the working title, Space Cadet. Shelley Duvall is seen in an uncredited cameo as Fred's mother.

This is truly the greatest comedy that has come out in the past decade. I am perfectly comfortable watching this movie with my two little boys because it is just GOOD, CLEAN, FUN. There is nothing offensive, except maybe a little gas, but honestly, everybody does it! My family NEVER gets tired of watching this gem and friends who have worked at video stores say this was one of the few movies they could show over and over again. First because it was family friendly and second, because they never got tired of it. With all the junk on TV and available to kids today, this is THE best movie for families to watch. If you haven't seen it yet, immediately rent it.

This movie is hilarious. We've watched our VHS copy over and over. This title was announced for DVD well over a year ago and then just never showed up. VERY disappointing!!! We'll buy it as soon as it becomes available.

My husband and I LOVE this movie. It is good clean fun...as long as you are not offended by ''passing gas'' jokes. Anyway - the comic timing is incredible and we laugh throughout the whole movie. Very entertaining! A couple songs you find yourself humming as well as phrases like ''It wasn't me''. You WILL LOVE Fred Randall!!!

This movie was hilarious. Forget those high budget / big names. This script was very well written and actors couldn't have been picked better, even the chimp. This is my favorite movie, I have worn out a VHS copy already. I HAVE to have this movie on DVD. ANY ideas as to when it will come out?

Rocketman was the funniest movie I've ever seen , hands down. Harland Williams did a great job along with the rest of the actors. I started watching this movie and by now I've watched it 25 times easily , & it's still funny. After watching it most likely you'll be saying IT WASN'T ME for a long. Great the first time I watched and it's better every time.

I suffer from asthma so I can honestly say that this movie was so funny it nearly killed me! Highly recommended!

The most purile, infantile, and altogether ''pee-in-your-pants'' funny movie I have seen in some time. Fred Randall is the idiot all of us engineers aspire to be: innocent, carefree, smarter than everyone else, and more idiotic than everyone else at the same time. He also scores a total BABE at the end.

This guy Fred is the kind of underdog we all want to be sometime in our life. To smuggle past the system and come out on top and have fun doing it. He's a funny hero.

I laghed so hard the first four times I saw it, I nearly wet my shorts. I am on my second video after wearing out the first one.
