I really like Rocky IV due to it's use of the whole Cold War theme. You get caught up in the excitement of USA vs USSR. At the time the movie came out, the Cold War was at it's height. Yeah, you might find some parts cheesy today but, had you watched this in the 80's, it wouldn't seem so cheesy.

Rocky,Rocky 2 and Rocky 3 are all amazing. But now comes part IV, it may not be the best, in my opinion the 1st is,but this is exeptionally thrilling. Here comes the Stallion's biggest and toughest chellenge, Ivan Drago, a Russian who kills Rocky's friend, Appollo. Sports Illustrated's Top 50 best sports movies says Rocky IV is a flop. I do not understand. May be some people got bored after 3, but not me, Rocky Balboa's #1 fan!

The words above are screamed by the Russian as he realizes he is not as great as he should have been. Rocky IV was a fluke. Apollo Creed is hot-headed and does not even train for his bout with Ivan Drago. So, he makes a grand entrance with James Brown and his big old Uncle Sam hat. The joke is short-lived, however as Creed gets his grapes crushed by the Russian. Apollo gets whomped so hard that he can't even hold up his hands to defend himself from getting a face-job. Despite a plea from Rocky, Creed says "let me fight, Rock." So Apollo goes back for another swing only to end up getting completely owned by Drago and dead face-down on the canvas. Sucks, doesn't it? Apollo spent all that money for a grand entrance and he loses (more than his dignity). The Russian does the same thing that Creed did he has a big painting made of him as if he were the president of Russia or something. My, how the tables turn as Drago gets waxed by Rocky and embarassed in front of the Soviet Union. In the last round, Ivan makes one last attempt to take Rocky out, but Drago should not have been so foolhardy. Rocky should have killed him, that would have truly avenged Apollo's death.

one of my favorite actors of all time, apollo creed, gave his life to complete this film, and while it's not citizen kane, it's still a great boxing drama. we will always remember him for this movie and other greats such as rocky 2 and predator. thanks for the good times, apollo.

This movie was one of my favorite of the 80's along with Top Gun, First Blood, Die Hard, Red Dawn, and Hoosiers! It had many great elements to it... USA vs. Russia, man vs. man, great training and fight scenes, great soundtrack!

This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen! The bout between the Russian and Appolo is so ridiculous. Drago punches Creed and he goes sailing back about ten feet. And the expressions on Appolo's face and the way his body reacts when he gets pummeled is priceless. Its also funny how the Russian has like a grudge against Apollo for making fun of him, so he slaughters him. At the beginning of the match Apollo is like, "I want you! This chump is going down. Its showtime everybody!" And five minutes later he's laying face-down in the middle of the ring. The match between Rocky and Drago is just as good. Drago seems to be just as angry at Rocky. He becomes even more frustrated when Rocky won't stay down and starts pushing him into corners and throwing him around the ring. The last round is the funniest, because he screams to Russians "I fight to win for me!" When the round starts, the Russian punches Rocky like three times and goes, Come on! So Rocky starts fighting back and the Russian looks like he's crying! Great movie to watch if you want a drama to laugh at!

I LOVE ROCKY 4. IT IS THE BEST ROCKY MOVIE EVER AND IT HAS MY FAVORITE ROCKY SONG EYE OF THE TIGER. IT TOTALLY SUCKS THAT APOLLO DIES BUT I LIKE IT WHEN ROCKY GOES TO RUSSIA AND SLAUGHTERS THE RUSSIAN. I ALSO LOVED IT WHEN THE RUSSIANS STARTED TO CHANT 'ROCKY ROCKY' AND WHEN HE RUNS TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN AND YELLS 'DRAGO' THREE TIMES. IF YOU ARE A ROCKY FAN, THIS IS THE ROCKY MOVIE I STRONGLY RECCOMEND
