Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Christina Urban
After a strong first season that sometimes relied too heavily on the teen-angst factor, Season 2 of Roswell took a different route and focused almost exclusively on the show's sci-fi element. Last season saw teenagers Max Jason Behr, Isabel Katherine Heigl, Michael Brendan Fehr, and Tess Emilie de Ravin finally discovering the truth about their existence: Max is the king of a war-torn planet who must find a way to return and free his people; Tess is his bride; and Michael is his second-in-command, betrothed to Max's sister, Isabel. This information dominates the plots of Season 2, as Liz Shiri Appleby must accept the fact that her boyfriend on Earth is really the leader of a foreign world. Liz and Max's love comes into question in the season's best episode, "The End of the World," when an older version of Max travels from the future to tell Liz their relationship destroys Earth. New alien enemies seek the destruction of the Royal Four in the tense episodes "Harvest" and "Wipeout!" while "Ask Not" introduces Brody Desmond Askew, a new character who plays a pivotal role this season and shines in the tense episode "Off the Menu." Valenti the wonderful William Sadler takes on a protective role this season after his clandestine dealings with the aliens lead to his suspension from the police force in "We Are Family." When Alex Colin Hanks dies in a car crash, Liz believes he may actually have been murdered by an alien in the heartbreaking "Cry Your Name." After Alex's death, Liz must also deal with the announcement that Tess is pregnant with Max's child in "Baby, It's You." That story line continues in the season finale, "The Departure," with the discovery that the baby can't survive unless it is returned to Max's planet.

THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST SEASON S I HAVE EVER SEEN

I loved this season and I really think that everyone should watch it and should seen what else they could see. This show really makes you think about what could really happen and what might happen in the future of the world and what could happening rite now that we don't even know about. I have never seen a show like this before and I wish that they would have made more than just 3 seasons. I wish that this show could be on everyday and that everyone could watch it. I have bought all of the seasons and I hope that I can have them forever and never lose them!!!!!

    Best Season of Roswell

MINOR SPOILERS! This season had episodes with more focused plots than Season One. Also, it relied less on high school and more on the SF elements of the show. (Don't get me wrong, I liked Season One too.) Though of course, it begged the question, a la Buffy, how anyone had time for class. I thought it ably confronted the problems inherent in Max and Liz's relationship for most of the season. I was disappointed with the final plot twist of the season. I do not love Tess, but the way the season turned out all of the real problems between Max and Liz were swept clean by making Tess evil. A better turn would have been to make Alex an alien bad guy who committed suicide in remorse and find some other way to keep everyone, but Tess, from leaving Earth. That way both Liz and her doubters would each have been partly justified about their reactions to Alex' death.

    Tess Harding--WHAT?

i love Roswell, and my favorite season is the first one--i also wish it wasn't cancelled. the only reason that i don't like this season so much is because of Tess Harding--obviously, Emilie de Ravin does a great job because she makes us all hate her, but i think that everyone loves Shiri Appleby with Jason Behr, and not Emilie de Ravin instead. love the last episode about how Max finally figures out that Liz didn't sleep with Kyle, and then cries. i love it when boys cry.
