As you might expect, a group of teenagers -- not-terribly-bright Buffy Shannon Elizabeth, her best friend Brenda Regina Hall, stoner Shorty Marlon Wayans, fey football player Ray Shawn Wayans, loudmouthed Greg Lochlyn Munro, sexually overexcited Bobby Jon Abrahams, and his prim girlfriend Cindy Anna Faris -- are on the run from a maniacal killer who is looking for revenge after the kids accidentally kill a man following an auto accident. They also find themselves having to contend with intrusive reporter Gail Hailstorm Cheri Oteri and eccentric high school principal Squiggly David L. Lander. Incidentally, the title Scary Movie is something of an inside joke: it was the working title for Scream, the movie that kick-started the mid-'90s slasher film revival.

Scary Movie -- directed by In Living Color's Keenan Ivory Wayans -- is a warm-hearted parody of slasher flicks, in much the same spirit that I'm Gonna Git You Sucka took on the blaxploitation genre with joyous abandon. Poking fun at every teen-horror-movie cliché we can recall and, surely, then some, the movie zips along with loving glee, building gratuitous tension, flaunting horny teens, and savoring melodramatic rage. American Pie's Shannon Elizabeth gets major laughs as the beauty-pageant-winning ditz who shows off her "acting talent" by screaming in terror. Shawn Wayans also sparks titters as a killer-cum-football-player with a feminine side. Saturday Night Live's Cheri Oteri also cameos as the requisite hyper-obnoxious newscaster knocking off Courteney Cox's Scream work, and making a much-needed comeback as Principal Squiggly is Laverne and Shirley's Squiggy David L. Lander. If you haven't already guessed, there's enough broad humor here fart jokes, booby jokes, etc. to make Mad TV and latter-day Mel Brooks blanche. Still, you have to admire Wayans for upholding the sacred torch of juvenile satire and catching a few great laughs along the way.

    LoL Movie

    This was one of the funniest movies of the year! Even though it is making fun of the movies, it is hilarious. But there are a cupple of parts that gave me the chills.

    So Funny, You'll Drop Plops. ^_^

    You can't beat this movie on being funny. I never laughed so hard in my life. All the normal people hated it, but I really liked it. Sure it has it's nasty moments, but that's what makes it funny. Why? There is nothing better to laugh at.

    Scary Movie Is Auesome!

    Scary Movie is a auesome movie! The whole consept is really funny. Through out the whole movie I was laughing! Scary/Comedy is at its best in this movie. The whole story line of this movie is to use other scary movies, (Scream, Freddy Kruger...) and make them into a relly funny movie!

    A Very Funny Movie

    Scary Movie is very funny. Taking parts from horror flicks and turning them into jokes was a very good idea by the Director(Wayans). A killer is killing off teens at B.A.CORPSE High School.It's up to a girl named Cindy and her friends Buffy, Bobby, Greg and others to find and unmask the killer before they're killed next.All of their efforts combine with other movies to make one hilarious movie. This is a must see comedy. I suggest you get this movie as soon as possible if you haven't seen it already. It is very funny.

    What a wonderful movie

    I rently saw scary movie it was a funnny movie I laugh so hard the whole movie was hillarious its something that the family will enjoy to see. Its about all of the scary movies that came out this year like Scream the six senes its a real good movie you have to see.

    A VERY FUNNY MOVIE

    IF YOU LOVE DIRTY COMEDY MOVIES THEN THIS ONE IS JUST FOR YOU. ALTHOUGH, THERE ARE SOME PARTS THAT COULD BE LEFT OUT. THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE. I HAVE THE BONUS EDITION VHS WHICH FEATURES SCENES YOU COULDN'T SEE IN THEATERS.

    Scary Movie = Funny

    This is the funniest spoof i've ever seen!!! All you other raters that gave this a 1 star and say that this just copies other horror movie...well that was the whole point of the movie!

    disapointing

    This is just a copy of some movies. The movie is supposed to be funny. It is a little but the idee of steeling parts from other movies makes it a movie without a story. scriptless as i would say

    The funniest movie you will ever see!

    ''Scary Movie'' has to be the funniest movie I've ever seen. It has a certain style that makes you laugh so much you will fall off your seat with laughter.

    Decent movie

    This movie was not near as funny as i expected. It had its funny parts, but then there were some disgusting parts. A good movie for people who have a dirty sense of humor.

    If you have a brain, skip this film!

    All I can say is that I bought the hype, went to see the film and barely even managed to chuckle 3 or 4 times in the entire film. I like broad comedy but this one tries to be like ''Airplane!'' and comes off more like airplane food: cold, boring and you've seen it before.

    Sooooooooooooooooooo funnny and disgusting

    I thought the movie was sooooooooooo funny, but really disgusting. I would reccomend it for teens.

    WOW!!!

    Scary Movie is horrifically funny! Parts of I don't know how many modern horror films are totally goofed up and combined in a wild ongoing plot.
