I WOULD CLEARLY RATE THIS MOVIE AS ONE OF THE BEST EVER MADE (ALONG WITH BAND OF BROTHERS). (I CONFESS I HAVE A WEAK SPOT FOR WWII MOVIES/BOOKS/ETC.) HOWEVER, I CAN THINK OF NO MOVIE THAT MORE ACCURATELY AND POIGNANTLY CONVEYS THE PAIN AND SUFFERING OF THOSE TIMES. THE ONLY THING IT LACKED WAS SHOWING THE SCALE OF THE TRAGEDY---WHICH NO MOVIE COULD EVER DO. THIS SHOULD BE REQUIRED VIEWING FOR ALL SCHOOL STUDENTS. THERE ARE FEW MOVIES THAT SHOW THE INHERENT DIGNITY OF SOME PEOPLE AND THE UNBELIEVABLE CRUELTY OF OTHERS. ESPECIALLY, HOW THE EVIL IN SOME PEOPLE CAN BRING OUT THE HIDDEN GREATNESS OF OTHERS.

The first time I tried to watch this movie, I couldn't finish it - it was too horrifying, too dark, too terrible for me to bear watching. Later on, when I got a little older and a little wiser, I watched it again and then fully realized what an astonishing accomplishment this movie was. It shows, in haunting black and white, the shameful crimes of the Holocaust, and the stunning humanity that overcame it.

I most enjoyed this movie it is a wonderful movie to watch and it is a wonderful history porject to learn from. I have learned more from this than what I have heard or from other movies that I have also seen on this horrilbe thing that has happened to these wonderful people.

This movie was fantastic. Liam Neesons did act nothing short of amazing. This is one of the best movies I have seen in my short life. This has to have been one of Steven Spielberg's best.

If someone wants to watch a movie telling of the pains for the Jew's during the war, Schindlers List is their movie. Yet this movie does not just tell of the painful life the Jews lead, but also the hardships some german men had. Mr. Schindler had difficulty with the fact that all Jews should die. His helpfullness sazved the lives of many Jews, their children, their childrens' children, and so on. This movie is graphic, but it helps many understand what really happened in the Holocaust. One day I hope to visit Schindlers gravestone in Jeruselum whrere thousands have gone and paid tribute to him for the hope he gave and the difference he made for so many people.

this movie really touched my heart. liam neesons performance was nothing short fo spactacular. he is more famous for his star wars role but in this movie he played an icredibally complicated role. ralph fieness played the super villain goeth also amazingly . spielberg did good to make him very human although he is a monster. he did a great job and he probally should have shared best actor oscar.this movie is very important in its showing that there were people who tried to save in the massacare. although its a very sad moviue it shows hope and that there is justice in the execution of goeth. there is a lot of violence and if you cant handle it dont see it.

Maybe I like this movie so much because I'm a Jew. I dunno. What do you think? The black and white camera was essential. It made every thing more sinster, like the world had gone to hell, which of course it did. Also, it was exactly like stepping into a black and white holocaust photograph. There is a lot of footage taken with hand-held cameras. This, for some reason, makes everything ten times more realistic. After seeing the selection scene with the hand-held style I thought I would barf. Oskar Schindler stuck his neck out for the Jews when no one else cared. This was a terrible story that was captured on film by a genius. And the ending where Schindler says he could have saved more lives was very emotional and excelent.

The only movie ever made that depicts both the horror and the humanity of such an unconscionable event in history. It is impossible to not become engrossed in this movie. Schindler is at once a philanthropic womanizer that, at times, throws the finger to the Nazi party for his own benefit. Goeth is shown for the indiscriminite murderer he is, but is also forced to confront his own demons. Nothing but history could provide characters as rich and compelling as this. And no one but Speilberg could have directed such a richly crafted masterpiece. Every frame of the movie is touched by geneious. Every charcter is portrayed with honesty. This is Speilberg's opus, his legacy. No other film could evoke such monumental emotion. This is filmaking at its best. The casting is flawless. Neeson as Schindler is nothing short of perfection. Finnes as Goeth is chilling. The cinematography can not be described. This is not a film. This is an important part of history that EVERY high school should include in their curriculum.

Many have appoached me asking why I love a movie about such a depressing subject. I answer the same way: it's not just about the millions of people who lost their lives in a terrible tradegy, it's also a touching story about a man who saved thousands from meeting that fate. This film gives a bit of relief, knowing that one man was willing to save others amid the pain and despair; how one person was able to give hope through his actions. So, in a way, the movie was also about hope.

This movie not only is it sad, but so heart touching. When I saw it for the first time, it made me feel sad. I recommend everyone, Jewish or not, to see this movie.

This movie comes very close to tell you what happenend to the jews during the holcaust and this movie has alot of graphic violence in it if you don't won't too see blood don't watch it.

'I could have saved more,' Oskar Shindler says. A line of humility that made the movie. It was simply the most wonderful movie that had Liam Neeson in it since 'Les Miserables.' I wasn't even expecting it. It came so clear in the end, the black and white was an anwesome element added to the movie so precicely and intricitly correct that it was essential. It was sad but amidst it there was this sureal beatiful hope. Oskar Shinlder was a great and wise man, this movie captured it well. I love this movie, a new favorite.

SCHINDLER'S LIST is a masterpiece of the highest order, a monument to Oskar Schindler, to those he saved and to goodness and humanity everywhere. It's a testament to the genius of Steven Spielberg, to screenwriter, Steven Zaillian and to novelist Thomas Keneally, on whose book, SCHINDLER'S ARK, the film is based. The hero of SCHINDLER'S LIST is, of course, Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), although, at the film's beginning, it seems as though a hero is definitely what Oskar Schindler is not. SCHINDLER'S LIST opens in Krakow, Poland in 1939. Schindler, a shrewd businessman and Nazi party member, wants to build a factory that will produce enameled cookware for the Nazi army. Of course, Schindler employs Jews; their wages are the very lowest, leaving Schindler more money to pocket for himself. The recruitment of Jewish labor and the business of running the factory are left to Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley), a Jewish accountant. Somewhere, sometime, Oskar Schindler stopped being a Nazi sympathizer and became, instead, a Nazi hater. Instead of spending the millions he made on his own comfort, Oskar Schindler spent his fortune rescuing Jews from certain torture and death. What prompted Schindler's transformation? Apparently, no one knows for sure and, wisely, Spielberg doesn't attempt to tell us. SCHINDLER'S LIST is a harrowing film, but, in some ways, it's a very subtle one; there's more that's not said than is, and this is, I think, a large measure of this film's magnificence and brilliance. When it comes to depicting the horrors of the Holocaust, however, SCHINDLER'S LIST, and Spielberg, don't back away. The portrayal of executions is brutal and definitely not for the faint of heart as their ghastly images will haunt you for months, probably for the rest of your life. Yes, the film is that powerful. Spielberg also shows us the face of evil in the character of Amon Goeth (Ralph Fiennes), a self-serving prison camp commandant who shoots Jews for sport yet keeps a Jewish mistress. To their enormous credit, however, Spielberg and Zaillion endow Goeth with true depth and complexity. He's a study in evil, yet he's no mindless monster. All of the actors, even the most minor ones, give mesmerizingly brilliant performances, but the best belong to Neeson and Fiennes, I think, in part because their roles are so complex. No one involved with this film was self-serving; no one seemed to think that his or her work should overshadow the importance of the film, itself. Surprisingly, SCHINDLER'S LIST was filmed in black and white. I didn't think I'd like this until I saw the actual film, then I realized it was really the only choice and actually added power to the film. Color is used only a handful of times, and when it is, it takes on special significance. Perhaps the most moving part of the film occurs at the end when some of the real 'Schindler's Jews' make an appearance, along with the actor who portrayed him or her in the film. SCHINDLER'S LIST is, arguably, the greatest film ever made. It's uncompromising in its portrayal of evil, but it's also unstinting in its portrayal of love. Amidst unspeakable darkness and despair, SCHINDLER'S LIST offers a ray of love and hope. This is definitely a DVD to own.

THE FIRST TIME I SAW THIS MOVIE I WAS IN THE EIGHTH GRADE. I ABSOLUTLEY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. THIS MOVIE IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN. THE PORTRAYAL OF THE CAMPS IS SCARY AND I'M SURE AS TRUE AS CAN BE PUT TO FILM. IT WILL MAKE YOU THINK...HARD.

In the midst of mans' ultimate inhumanity to man comes a true hero in the form of Oskar Schindler. Another of note is Raol Wallenberg....little known, also did what he could to 'get papers' for Jews thus saving their lives.

This is a great movie and should be seen by as many as possible. This movie provides evidence that some tried to stop the effects of the Halocaust. This story depicts the effort, the cost, and the future of those who were able to survive. Another movie recently released on DVD, THE HIDING PLACE, also depicts others who lost their lives attempting to save Jews in Holland. For me, it is proof that Gentiles will attempt to stop the complete destruction of the Jews.

This masterpiece has done what film is intended to do, move the masses. I think every person must see this movie to understand the overwhelming odds from which these people survived. After viewing I hope you will come away with compassion and tolerance.

Schindler's List is an amzing drama depicting the struggle of the European Jews during the Holocaust. Vividly depicting the excruciating pain they went, Speilberg portrays the magnitude of the Holocaust through vivid imagery and heartwrenching content. The story focuses on the story of Oskar Schindler, an entreaupenauer who risked his life to save over 1,000 Jews. This is a film every person should see. Not reccommended for children under thirteen.
