    Top Film in Collection

    There are some excellent sci-fi movies in this 100 pack collection but the best of all is "Battle of the Worlds". This 1961 outer space adventure features Claude Rains in one of his most memorable performances. The special effects are astonishing and the scene with the microwave oven at NASA is not to be missed! The jump cut style of editing adds suspense and humor to several scenes and showcases Rains ability to do the same scene over and over without changing one thing in his delivery and movements. This technique was also effectively used in the unheralded Ivan Tors classic "Island of [Very] Lost Souls". The killer giant birds from that film mimic the killer giant hair-dos from "Battle of the Worlds", which Ivan Tors had nothing to do with even though the porpoise-like aliens may lead one to the conclusion that he did.
