Scooby-Doo in Arabian Nights

Overview

This Hanna-Barbera version of "The Arabian Nights" goes to great pains not to offend any pressure or minority group--so much so that one suspects its political correctness was actually a gag. At any rate, such familiar Hanna-Barbera stars as Yogi Bear, Boo Boo, Magilla Gorilla, Scooby Doo and Shaggy are featured in a trilogy of familiar-looking stories.

Episode one, "Alliyah-Din and His Magic Lamp," features Yogi and Boo Boo as genies and a female version of Alladin; episode two, "Sinbad," is a freewheeling spoof of both the original story and of Hanna-Barbera's rival Disney studios, built around the antics of Magilla Gorilla in the title role; and the closing segment, "Scheherezade," finds Scooby and (especially) Shaggy forsaking the solving of mysteries so that they'll have time to spin tales for a cranky caliph. The 90-minute Arabian Nights originally aired September 3, 1994, on the TBS superstation.

    A reviewer

Now this is the only Scooby dvd I like and it is alot better than the other Scooby Doo dvds with Fred, Daphane, Velma and the original mysteries formula. I used to love Scooby-Doo just as a regular normal cartoon dating all the way back to when I was little after my birth but as I grew older Warner Bros. who now owns the rights to this and other H-B cartoons keep wearing out the whole scooby doo thing which is why stopped watching Scooby and switched over to Tom & Jerry which was Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera's first creation before Ruff and Reddy, Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Fred Flintstone, George Jetson, Top Cat, Scooby Doo, Wally Gator, Captain Caveman and the others. This telefilm stars Yogi, Boo Boo, Magilla, Scooby and Shaggy all in one TV movie and of course the animation in this special is amazing like an Animaniacs episode and the music is pure zany to the max.

    Great Movie!

This is a terrific movie! It not only includes Scooby-Doo, but other Hanna-Barbera stars too! Scooby-Doo in Arabian Knights is off the charts on my list.
