With the exception of SCARFACE, Pacino had a series of clunkers in the 1980's. This 1989 work can be considered a comeback move for one of America's greatest actors...this is thriller erotica oozing in NYC style. Harold Becker's best work since THE ONION FIELD, and it holds you scene to scene. Ellen Barkin literally walks off with the film when she meets Pacino's character in a West Side supermarket wearing only heels and a trenchcoat. It was enough to make me shop there.
