Seed of Chucky

Overview

When the notoriously evil Chucky doll and his lover gave birth, they had no idea that their spawn would grow up to be a peace-loving kind of guy; however, that's exactly what Glen turns out to be: a gentle soul who is horrified at what he has been told about his family. Overview

When the notoriously evil Chucky doll and his lover gave birth, they had no idea that their spawn would grow up to be a peace-loving kind of guy; however, that's exactly what Glen turns out to be: a gentle soul who is horrified at what he has been told about his family. After hearing the news of a film being made about his parents' murderous legacy, Glen sets off for Hollywood, where he promptly brings Chucky and Tiffany back to life. Far from diving into doting fatherhood, Chucky is seriously disappointed in his son's lack of inherent evil and tries his best to impart his vast knowledge of all things malevolent before Glen becomes some sort of do-gooder. Elsewhere, Tiffany finds that she will be played by Jennifer Tilly in their movie and doesn't hesitate to let her son in on their family's most cherished tradition -- killing sprees. Directed by Don Mancini, Seed of Chucky features Brad Dourif returning as the voice of Chucky, while Tilly plays both herself and Tiffany. The offspring of the evil pair, Glen, is voiced by Lord of the Rings star Billy Boyd. Cult film director John Waters also makes an appearance, as does hip-hop artist Redman. ~ Tracie Cooper

Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide - Jeremy Wheeler
Picking up where Bride of Chucky left off comes Seed of Chucky, an uproarious comic take on the world of celebrity, transgendered confusion, and killer dolls struggling with moral family issues. In short, it's a movie of its time. With inspired nods to Ed Wood and family dramas such as Ordinary People, creator Don Mancini brings yet another new fresh take on the franchise that worked so well when he tackled romantic comedies in the previous film. With many very knowing jabs at Hollywood and the business, Seed does work the pop-culture angle for all it's worth (and then some), though, thankfully, it aligns itself more with the Wes Craven's New Nightmare category than the nonstop type of Shrek mockery. Jennifer Tilly and Redman have a great time poking fun at themselves and the industry, as does John Waters in a juicy sleaze column reporter role that will no doubt usher in some classic hoots and hollers from his fans. The core of the film lies in Chucky and Tiffany, whose technical and vocal performances are, bar none, the best this series has seen. Brad Dourif once again shines in the Chucky role, though newcomer Billy Boyd, as his hideous offspring, isn't too shabby himself (and just wait until you see what androgynous rock star the kid was based on!). Throughout the film, Mancini keeps the trashy laughs coming and the bloody deaths over-the-top, injecting his own stylish touch into a film that many thought would be lacking in his first time behind the camera. Seed of Chucky is wild, weird, and wacky -- three things that not too many fifth films in a horror series can proudly boast.

A so- so movie from an outstanding past.

This movie is not great, but it didn't suck. It was, well um, original. It was funny but also disturbing. Only for people who can really take a joke. "like me"

Look, if you really want to see a scary movie then i am telling you now to please not waste your time and money on this dumb movie. I am never going to watch it again, and I am warning everyone reading this message that you really don't wanna see this movie. Trust me, I know. And I made that mistake of even trying to watch it. So please don't make the same mistake that I made. Just don't watch it.

My least favorite of the series!

The Seed of Chucky was my least favorite of the movie's and this should have been less funny and more scary.

    SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN MADE

Being a fan of the first 3 Chucky movie, I decided I would give this movie a chance, even though Bride of Chucky was bad. This movie was very funny and sick! Full of unnecessary things when it comes down to it. I'll just stick with the first 3 Chucky movies to watch.

It's a Good Thing That I Rented the Movie

This movie was really weird, sick, stupid, and It has to be the worst Chucky movie I've ever seen. It was a little funny at parts but it was mainly boring. It wasn't scary like the other Chucky movies were. I'm warning you to not rent or buy this movie. You'll be so bored that you'll turn off the movie. Consider yourself warned.

    Chucky at it again!

I really liked this movie, though I felt it could have been a lot better. I've come to accept that the Chucky movies are now completely fallen on the genre of dark-comedy. They are actuallly very good at it! I recommend this movie to those who are general slasher and/or Chucky fans. =)
