Overview

Pop star Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees star in this musical, loosely based on the popular 1967 Beatles album Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. In the story, Billy Shears, who now heads the Lonely Hearts Club Band, is the grandson of the famous Sergeant Pepper. He is confronted by the need to save the magical musical instruments of the band from the bad guys, led by music tycoon B.D. Brockhurst (Donald Pleasance), who want to steal them. If they succeed, the magic which infuses "Heartland U.S.A." will disappear. Among the many Beatles' songs performed in the film by well-known popular artists are: "She's Leaving Home" (Bee Gees, Jay MacIntosh, John Wheeler), "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" (Steve Martin), "Got To Get

    THIS MOVIE ROCKS!!!!!!

I love Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band! Peter Frampton, the Bee Gees, Aerosmith, and Sandy Farina give outstanding musical performances. This is an awesome visual to the Beatles' songs. I belive this movie did the Beatles' songs by allowing the viewers to follow along on the journey with Billy Shears, the Hendersons, and Starwberry Fields as they try to stop the FVB from corrupting the world. This movie is great for Frampton and Bee Gees fans!

    i love this movie!

peter frampton, the bee gees, aerosmith, and earth, wind, & fire sing the beatles songs better than the beatles did!! sure, it's not a movie to be taken seriously for its acting or script, etc. it's simply a fun entertaining movie. the musical performances are outstanding, and they did a great job of creating a story through music.

    A reviewer

This is a trip in the time machine, to see Alice Cooper with a mustache portraying a displaced crossing guard and singing the Beatles, "Because," who else could sing a goofy little song like "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" than Steve Martin, and the ETERNAL Aerosmith playing bad guys....Steven Tyler and Peter Frampton duking it out. I went to this movie at the theater when I was 12, already a huge Aerosmith fan, and I still get goosebumps when I watch that scene, pre-MTV, what a thrill.

    A Good Weird Movie!

I first saw this movie in a movie thaater when I was around 12 or 13 years old and I enjoyed it and then I saw it several times on HBO and when it came out on DVD I purchased it and watched it again and I still enjoyed it. It is a weird movie that is mostly told in song with some narration by George Burns and this is definitely one of my favorite weird campy movies and I found The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton to be very entertaining!

    What a horror

Horrible, horrible, horrible movie. It pains me to remember my experience watching it, that is the first 5 minutes. I couldn't take any more of the distasteful and cheap reproduction of the Beatles. I am only giving it one star because it doesn't go into negatives. I spit on this terrible waste of life.

    THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!

I will never forget this movie. It was the best then and it's even better now. The 2-cd soundtrack set is beyond words! If you're a 70's fan, this is the it. It's just too bad that movies like this aren't made anymore. Actors, singers, songs...you just cannot duplicate. -Caroline

Don't give this none of your money!

My condolances to Maurice Gibb, who passed away in the early part of this year, and to Peter Frampton and George Martin for getting roped into this mess! It killed the Bee Gees' and Frampton's careers for many years! This is more like a parody of the Beatles than a tribute. The moments with George Burns and Steve Martin are amusing, considering ''Maxwell's Silver Hammer'' was a novelty song to begin with. Billy Preston's rendition of ''Get Back'' is tolerable (though he was rarely heard from after this movie) as is Aeroesmith's take on ''Come Together'' (same thing with Aeroesmith) and Earth, Wind and Fire's funky jazz reading of ''Got to Get You Into My Life'' (I believe they too parted not long after this fiasco). But c'mon, disco versions of ''You Never Give Me Your Money?'' ''Strawberry Fields Forever'' is reduced to an elavator waltz that would make John Lennon puke! And the versions of ''A Day In the Life'' and ''Golden Slumbers/Carry that Weight'' are blasphemous! If you're smart, you won't give Robert Stigwood any of your money for this one!
