Overview

Elmo has become one of the most beloved Muppets, rivaling Kermit, Miss Piggy, Big Bird, and Fozzie Bear in popularity. This disc collects some of the moments that have made Elmo a favorite of parents and children alike. The disc offers a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original broadcast aspect ratios. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no subtitles, but the soundtrack is closed-captioned. There are no supplemental materials, but this disc should not disappoint those who have grown accustomed to the high quality consumers have come to expect from Sesame Street.

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
It's Elmo's World, where monsters aren't so scary after all, especially when they're on their best behavior. And with Julia Roberts among the visitors in the house, you can bet that Elmo will be at his cutest, funniest, and cuddliest in this delightful 30-minute program. The red, furry little monster recalls favorite songs and vignettes from Sesame Street, such as his attempts to scare Roberts (who's almost as adorable as Elmo). Elmo also does some "Happy Tappin' " raps about the number 5, compares fur and skin with Whoopi Goldberg, and sings the Sesame Street standards "Imagination" and "Elmo's Song." Elmo fans will be tickled by this fast-paced compilation available on VHS and, for the first time, DVD.

If you have a toddler, you need to have this 'classic' Elmo video in your collection. My 1 year old is hooked to the point that, on New Year's day, our old VHS tape of 'The Best of Elmo' broke and I had to run (not walk) to Barnes and Noble to get a new copy. My son may not have a large vocabulary but we frequently hear him chanting 'Elmo, Elmo' in our home. Some things never go out of style and this video is one of them.

This was the first video that my daughter went crazy for and had to watch over and over. In this story, everyone wants one of Elmo's fine crayon drawings. Each drawing represents a song or skit. It has many great Elmo songs and, in my opinion, only one slow moment with Julia Roberts. Ruth Buzzi's scene is great, but too short. I had to give it an extra star just for the song with Ernie. In this song, they point to the parts of the face. My daughter used to point to hers along with them. It was adorable. If you have a 1+ child who likes Elmo, this video will enchant her. Also, this is a good Elmo video without the annoying 'Elmo's World' format.

This DVD I expected to be more engaging but it is just a bunch of TV segments of elmo with famous people. elmo talking to whoopi about her hair/his fur, julia roberts and being afraid, etc. I just found it not that stimulating and my son gives it five minutes before he ignores it for play and just become background noise. I think there are better DVD's out there-
