Our favorite Cosmopolitan-sipping quartet is back, skewering their respective lovers and each other while offering a passenger’s-seat view of New York City self-absorption. HBO’s creative crew has caught lightning in a bottle with Sex and the City, cultivating a loyal following with continuing tales of Gotham's high-stakes dating game. These 18 episodes offer plenty for both diehard fans and curious newbies to chew on. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) explores the varying virtues of firemen, politicians, and Mr. Big (Chris Noth). Charlotte (Kristin Davis) discovers a yen for domesticity. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) wonders how an island as small as Manhattan "can be big enough to hold all our boyfriends." Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is caught in a bizarre orbit of sexually potent munchkins, egg-tossing transsexuals, and Playboy bunnies. Much like its fellow HBO hit The Sopranos, Sex and the City moved quickly from cult status to full-blown cultural phenomenon, with many among its legion of fans discovering the show's pleasures on disc and tape rather than during its actual TV run. In many circles, it has changed the ground rules for discussions between the sexes. Have women always related to one another the way SatC does, or has the show brought out the dishing diva in all of us? Whatever the case, talking about sex will never be the same again.

'Sex and the City' is, in my opinion, one of the best shows HBO has ever produced. The wit and charm that are created by the four leading ladies have pushed this show to be the phenomenon that it has become. What I love best about the show is that it works best without any real male lead. Although Big (Chris Noth) has been on the show all four seasons, it is truly about the women and the relationships between them. If you are a woman, there is no possible way you will not relate to the characters in some way. I HIGHLY recommend this show.

It was a great third season, and the best part is that you can watch them over and over! I have the first two, and still go back to the first season and laugh my head off. Buy it before you spend MORE money renting them individually!

I'm sorry, but Sex and the City is an awesome show, but hang up the feminist attitude. The show is well written (many episodes written by a man) and the entire cast contributes so much to the whole. As a man- a straight one- I find the comedic genius of the show both real and touching. It comes across to many as crude rude and oft times outright disgusting. But once you are reeled in by the characters and their true-to-life woes of love and lust, you are hooked. Impatiently waiting for season 4....

Sex and the City has a unique way of blending the twists and turns of a hundred different relationship into a hugly popular series that is the most entertaining thing to watch on television. It creates a clever perspective on women and men, and at the same time allows others to see the truth about what goes on in the mind of a women, and how it is true . . .women just wanna have fun. Sarah Jessica Parker is a god! And I wish the seasons never had to end.

With all the rave reviews, I took the time to rent an watch this DVD. What I witnessed was a show about a group of insufferable, superficial, and materialistic women. While sexual obsession is one thing, you need to have a something more substantial to balance it. These women have nothing. They care about clothes, money, men's body parts, and, yes, orgasm. That's about it. They engage in no meaningful conversations, have no substantial ideas to speak of, and the humor is essentially stereotypical, empty-headed womanizer's view of the world transplanted into female bodies. Now, if this show was a parody of these women's meaningless lives, it would be one thing. That could be very, very funny. Instead, it almost glorifies their empty heads and empty lives. If these were men, we'd have the PC jockies all over this show talking about how awful it is. So, when women show they can be as awful as some men its acceptable? Finally, there might be some merit to this show if the women were attractive. They're not. It has nothing to do with their physical characteristics, either. Any man or woman can be beautiful depending on what comes out of their mouths and what's swimming around inside their heads. As soon as these women start to talk, however, they are about as attractive as one of those guys who wears his shirt open to his belly, has lots of gold jewelry around his neck, and obsesses about televised sports. And the women he's laid or would like to.

Sex and the City Season 3 is awesome. It is packed with comedy, and full of sex. It is something that I can watch again and again and again. The Season also features cameos of other celebrities, what else would you want in a TV Series. It is awesome.

I love this show, I don't know what life is really like in New York, but it makes me happy I'm not living there. Too many available women, and too many standards to ever remember! the show is great, my boyfriend loves it too, we sit down and watch as many as we can. I can't wait for season 4 on dvd.

I love SATC, and have been watching it since day one! Carrie is The quintesential New Yorker chic, and her band of friends: Miranda, Charlotte, and who couldn't forget... Samantha make this group the ''been-there-done-that'' know it all's of sex, and dating. I personally can relate to Carrie, so watching the show is like watching my life, and is my remedy for a broken heart, or any other dating/relating misshaps! There isn't a person out there who can't in any way relate somehow to the show, or hasn't unsed it in some way as a guide to making it in the dating world. The assorted array of other cast members: Mr. Big, Stanford, Adian, ect just add to the somewhat realness of ths show. I would recommend this show to anyone who not only loves to laugh, but loves a little sex, and sass with of course, lots of class!!!!!

I agree fully with the guy David B. I've never bought this nor will I. The series on HBO held my attention on two occasions for at most 20 min, only because of its complete and utter lack of intelligence. The characters therin are quite boorish and as David B put it ''airheads''. I don't understand how any guy could appreciate it unless they are attempting to live vicariously or substitute it for soft core pornography. Its really about a double standard, if it were about a group of guys its sexism, a group of girls sexy. It should be noted I dislike ''The Man Show'' with equal ferver.

Sex and the City is well written and well acted. They deal with serious and uncomfortable issues in a comedic way that anyone can appreciate. The plot line is engaging and addictive. I am somewhat conservative and therefore was worried I would not enjoy Sex and the City, but I'm glad I give it a chance because I can hardly wait from week to week to see how it will progress. Everyone should give this show a chance, you just may be surprised.

I guess when you watch seasonal shows you have to watch from the beginning. I mean at first I thought Sopranos was boring but after watching it from the beginning season I understood what it was about. Movies like Sex in the City have to be watched from the beginning to the end. I enjoyed the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd season. This is a funny, open-mouth show. I mean some may not be so realistic but some of it has come too close to home about relationships. I enjoyed every single season of this show.

I found the trials and tribulations of these single women very amusing yet at times true to life. Even my boyfriend finds this show hilarious!!

if you dont love this show, you must be bitter. It is witty and outrageous. Keri's outfits are great most, of the time.

I have episodes 1-3 and have watched all about 7-9 times so far. Can't wait to get the 4th season! Very funny that the one reviewer ''claims'' to love the show so much and doesn't even know how to spell CARRIE'S name! Anyhow, the characters though sometimes shallow and slutty are very entertaining to watch and not far off from most women I have seen. The clothes are usually hideous, but I love the show and watch it all the time. There's not one other show I currently watch or have ever watched that I have been so dedicated to. If you watch this and don't pick up on all the side humor and funny facial expressions that each character does, which by the way is one of the huge reasons this show is so funny, then you have no right to even begin to judge the show or those who watch for you're clearly not observant enough to make the judgement. BTW-Could Sarah look any worse w/ short hair!!!! Please SARAH GROW YOUR GORGEOUS LONG CURLEY HAIR BACK. Looks like a fraile rat w/ out it!

This season is amazing, fantastic, must-see sex (& the city). Carrie & the girls just keep developing their characters so realistically. The layers are so human that you can't help but cry or laugh out loud at their experiences.
