While his Pygmalion has been staged and filmed endless times, most famously as the musical My Fair Lady, here Shaw goes to high school. This time around, a Los Angeles' school's most popular guy Zack Freddie Prinze, Jr. loses his girlfriend Taylor Jodi Lyn O'Keefe to television star Brock Hudson Scream's Matthew Lillard. Zack then vows to his friends that he can take any girl in school and turn her into the prom queen. With five weeks until the prom, his friends pick weird, art nerd Laney Boggs Rachael Leigh Cook. Zack predictably gets more than he bargained for as he falls in love with his "creation." Eldon Hudson and Kieran Culkin, stars of The Mighty, play Laney's best friend and little brother, respectively. Robert Iscove, director of television's Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, makes his big-screen debut.

    A modern fairy tale

    A modern fairy tale
This is the story of a girls awakening, an energized coming of age movie.

Laney, Rachael Leigh Cook's character, went from being an eye sore, to eye candy. From avoiding all human contact, to nearly winning prom queen. Zac ,Freddie Prinze Jr's character, went from vain senior, to a man in love. From seeing Laney as a way to win a bet, to treasuring her.

This is sweet love story, and an entertaining comedy.

    Not That Great

This movie has a very thin plot- and it's also very predictable. Basically a popular guy has a bet that he can't turn the geekiest girl in school into a prom queen in 5 weeks. The girl gets a makeover and they fall in 'love' in the end. This is SO not worth buying. I rented it because I wanted to see Rachel Leigh Cook, who did a very good job in Josie and The Pussy Cats. This movie doesn't even have that much chemistry. They have only one kiss in the end and that's it. Rent it if you really want to see it. Otherwise, it's really not worth your time.
