This specially priced package pairs two wonderful DVD finds from 2003 -- Sinatra: The Classic Duets and Happy Holidays with Bing and Frank -- both culled from vintage '50s television productions, and featuring two of the most influential 20th Century singers in American popular music. The first, described in greater detail here, is a revelatory hour with the Chairman of the Board and a parade of mid-century musical giants, from Ella Fitzgerald and Elvis Presley to Dean Martin and Dinah Shore, all from Sinatra's ABC TV variety series. Bing Crosby makes appearances on The Classic Duets, too, even coming out to introduce Old Blue Eyes in a clip from the beginning of Sinatra's first show. The second DVD in this set comes from the same period 1957, specifically, and as the title suggests it's all Blue Eyes and der Bingle, teaming up for a half-hour of seasonal song and good cheer. While The Classic Duets is in black and white aside from a medley with Dina Shore that appears among the bonus features, Happy Holidays with Bing and Frank is a color affair. Although it has been cleaned up a bit, the picture isn't perfect; but that only adds to the DVD's vintage charm.
