Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
Pitching a dramatic series about a funeral home to the various television networks couldn't have been an enviable task. Blessed with the creative backing of Oscar-winning writer Alan Ball, however, Six Feet Under landed on HBO and started garnering acclaim before anyone could come to terms with how morbid and refreshing the concept actually was. The pilot opens with the death of Nathaniel Fisher Sr., owner of the Fisher and Sons Funeral Home, who's killed when a municipal bus broadsides his hearse. The rest of family -- wife Ruth Frances Conroy, sons David and Nate Michael C. Hall and Peter Krause and daughter Claire Lauren Ambrose -- is left to navigate the grief that they've become accustomed to regarding with such detachment. The Fishers are surrounded by a coterie of friends and lovers, many of whom match them, dysfunction for dysfunction. Since the show's launch, Six Feet Under has become a critical darling, landing six Emmys and two Golden Globes and adding yet another jewel to HBO's programming crown. This four-disc set includes all 13 first-season episodes, as well as audio commentaries and deleted scenes narrated by Ball, plus behind-the-scenes interviews with Hall, Ambrose, and Rachel Griffiths -- who is a standout as Nate's girlfriend. If the show's conceit doesn't scare you off, there's much to appreciate enjoy just seems like the wrong word about Six Feet Under.
Entertainment Weekly
The show confronts death -- and, of course, life -- with an artful mix of irony, gallows humor, and heartbreaking poignance.
New York Times

    Art work for your TV

I've been addicated to Six Feet Under since the first episode I ever seen. It's easy to get into and keeps you on your toes. The series does get a bit slow at times, but even so, those moments are like watching art work on your TV, and within no time the series picks backs up and sucks you back into the plotline. No predicting here, something new and exciting is always around the corner. A must buy!

    Don't bother

Not a likeable character in the cast, starting with the pathetic "woe is me" mother. Opening scene is the only good part of the show.

    Jeremy Sisto:gorgeous and talented

I rented the entire first season and I was blown away by the performance by jeremy sisto. He is very believable and has true courage to play a role such as this. The rest of the cast blends together very well and I think this is a truly worthy show on HBO.Now that I have watched the first season I will continue to rent the rest because the characters truly rope you into their lives.
