Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide - Jeremy Wheeler
Slaughter High is the kind of slasher that plays everything pretty much by the slasher code and little else, which is actually what almost all of them did at some point. It does, however, have some high points -- the first being the casting of the way too old for the part, but classically gorgeous genre favorite Caroline Munro (Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter, Star Crash). It's nice to see Monro as a scream queen, though those who aren't too aware of this English seductress will have a hard time appreciating the novelty. As always, the kills are what separate the big horror kids from the smaller ones, and this low-budgeter is no different. You get some acid to the face action, along with a pretty humorous steamy scene with an explosive ending that you won't forget. The grisly deaths are definitely the high points, though it helps that the characters are all despicable, which leads into some pretty interesting morality issues when all is said and done. Even with the twist ending, though, there's still not enough to really separate this entry from all of the others, save for the rallying "geek gets revenge" theme. Slaughter High gets a passing grade for the die-hard genre fans, but is worthless for most any other audience.
