Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Christina Urban
As Season 4 of Smallville begins in "Crusade," Lana Lang Kristin Kreuk has returned from Paris with her new boyfriend, Jason Jensen Ackles -- who, we later learn, isn't all he seems. The premiere also features the first jaw-dropping scenes of Clark Tom Welling experiencing one of his new superpowers: the ability to fly. For the first time, Smallville takes a serialized approach to its story lines, and this year features the season-long search for three mystical Kryptonian crystals. In one of the more controversial story arcs this season, a strange tattoo appears on Lana's back -- the design matches a symbol from one of the Kryptonian crystals -- and enables her to channel the spirit of a 17th-century sorceress. Chloe Sullivan Allison Mack discovers her crush Clark's superpowers but tells no one, not even Clark, that she knows his secret. Her continuing amazement at Clark's abilities and her resolve not to spill the beans makes interesting viewing. This season also brings the first Smallville appearance of Lois Lane Erica Durance, who shows up in town in all her snarky, sarcastic glory. Fans can also enjoy the continuing evolution of Lex Luthor Michael Rosenbaum, now well on his way to becoming the deliciously evil, manipulative Lex Luthor from the comics, a trend especially noticeable in the episode "Onyx." Highlights of the year include: the first appearance of the Flash in the episode "Run," in which a teenage Bart Allen Kyle Gallner wreaks havoc in Smallville; "Jinx," wherein a foreign exchange student with the curious name of Mikhail Mxyzptlk Trent Ford manipulates the betting on high school football games; and "Transference," the best episode of the season, which finds Lionel Luthor the wonderful John Glover using an artifact to switch bodies with Clark. The strange Kryptonian crystals figure in the season finale, "Commencement," when graduation day festivities include a surprise meteor shower.

    The BEST show EVER!!!!!

The 4th season of Smallvill was great. With the new additions of Lois Lane and Jason Teague we all had to watch the crazy relationship ups and downs. The season finally was crazy and when you watch it you'll be surprised out of your mind!!!! It also helps that Clark and Jason are really hot!!!

    Best season yet !!!!!!

This season the all the characters really developed.Clarck gets closer to becoming the ledgendary Superman.Although some of the episodes were a bit weak, like Lana being possesed by a 17th century sorceress, overall the season was a hit. Many new characters were introduced including Clarks to be love,Lois Lane. I also enjoyed the fact that chloe descovers Clarks superpowers. From beginning to end you can not take your eyes off of Tom Welling(Clark) This is a list of the episodes of season 4: 1 Crusade, 2 Gone, 3 Facade, 4 Devoted, 5 Run, 6 Transference, 7 Jinx, 8 Spell, 9 Bound, 10 Scare, 11 Unsafe, 12 Pariah, 13 Recruit, 14 Krypto, 15 Sacred, 16 Lucy, 17 Onyx, 18 Spirit, 19 Blank, 20 Ageless, 21 Forever, 22 Commencment I highly recommend Smallville season #4!!!!

    Smallville is awesome

With every episode, Smallville keeps getting better and better. I am loving the fourth season best of all so far, especially with the addition of Erica Durance's portrayal of Lois Lane. I do, however, miss Pete and wish Lana would go away, LOL. SO looking forward to season five!

    Best Season Yet!

Season 4 topped all of the other seasons, no question. The season premiere was amazing with Clark being Kal El and actually flying. Then it just kept going by making Lois a very interesting character and finally bringing Lex into his evil self (obviously by the season finale). And then it leaves the greatest finale ever! I am still wondering what is going to happen. If you even like any of the episodes from the previous seasons, you would be wise to pick up this set.
