    A Marvelous Movie-A Wonderful Memory

Amsterdam serves as the backdrop for this engaging love story. Larry (Burt Reynolds) is an aging ex-hippie with a carefree but dead end lifestyle. Having fallen by the wayside of life he now finds himself boxed-in by books and haunted by memories of true love lost. His bookstore also serves as his home and as his window to the world. Life seems to be passing him by-until a chance meeting with Aisha (Carmen Chaplin)a young American girl searching for herself, changes everything. Soon Larry's cynical view of life starts to unravel as fate steps in and uses the new friendship to restore a love that was destined to be. Perhaps the most appealing elements of the movie is it's simple premise-nothing can stand in the way of true love and it's use of ordinary characters to tell the story. Snapshots is proof-positive of the versatility of Burt Reynolds ability as an actor. His portrayal of Larry the aging hippie is both believable and memorable-his best acting to date. Excellent performances by Carmen Chaplin and Julie Christie help drive this romantic drama straight to the heart! Director Rudolf Van Den Berg has crafted not just a marvelous movie but a wonderful memory.
