Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Immerse yourself in the silly and surreal underwater world of Spongebob Squarepants. This DVD nets ten jolly-as-Roger stories from all three seasons of Nickelodeon's unsinkable Kids Choice Award-winning series (also available on two VHS collections, Laugh Your Pants Off and Sponge-A-Rama). In "Mermaidman and Barnacleboy III," those elderly superheroes (voiced by Ernest Borgnine and Tim Conway) allow Spongebob and Patrick to house-sit for them, leading to the release of the evil Man-Ray. Patrick Squarepants? In "Big Pink Loser," Spongebob becomes a role model to Patrick. Next, Squidward wants to sell his house, but his plan to contain neighbor Spongebob's wackiness hilariously backfires in "Opposite Day." "Squirrel Jokes" are no laughing matter to Spongebob's friend Sandy, while in "Rock-A-Bye Bivalue," Spongebob and Patrick form an unusual family when they decide to raise a baby scallop. In "Dumped," Spongebob goes to desperate lengths to lure his pet snail Gary away from Patrick. In "Bossy Boots," Spongebob must fire Mr. Krabs's daughter Pearl, who has turned the Krusty Krab into a hip hangout that only serves salad and tea. In "The Bully," Spongebob absorbs blows from new student Flats the flounder. It's "Sleepytime" for the residents of Bikini Bottom until Spongebob visits their dreams. Finally, in "Squidville," Squidward learns that there is such a thing as too much paradise when he moves to Tentacle Acres, where everyone is just like him.
