I rented this for my kids, but my wife and I enjoyed it even more than they did. It's inventive and fun--think of Willie Wanka crossed with James Bond and you have something of the idea. This was a surprising blast.

I took my 5 year old and her friend with me to see this, It not only held their attention the whole time it held mine. We laughed together and had a great time. What could be more important to a family outing. We have purchased it for 3 birthdays already and my daughter is getting it for christmas. The kids love the advanture heros being kids like they are and who doesn't love Antonio Banderas.

After a string of highly stylized, ultra-violent action films, Rodriguez scores with this surprisingly well-executed kids action adventure. Written and directed by Rodriguez, Spy Kids is wrapped in a vapid plot that merely serves as a vehicle for beautifully executed action sequences that shamelessly crosses into the realm of the absurd. The easily digested story speaks to a common fantasy among American children: the obsession over the banality of one's parents, and the hope that there is more depth and adventure to life (read Harry Potter). If you hated this movie, it is because you did not lobotomize yourself to suspend disbelief and merely accept this A+ family film.

This movie was better than i thought it would be. I thought it was going to be pretty dumb, with these kids running around acting cool or something, but it is pretty good. It has 2 ''bathroom humor'' things but thats OK; the rest of the movie compensates for it. It even has a surprise appearance of George Clooney at the end as the director of the OSS. Recommended highly.
