Expert packing of the set.

Package arrived a little later than expected but all items were in perfect condition which is saying something with a some 40+ disc set. Once again great job.

I was truly and deeply humbled when my mother and father purchased this set for me. The price is enough to make me blush at the thought of it, and the memories I have of being younger and tuning in make me smile. I believe it stands shoulder to shoulder, and even a little higher in certain episodes and plot lines, with The Next Generation. The actors are skillful, the characters complex. The writing is wonderful, the scenarios and locations are unique and inventive. From the top to the bottom, across each and every season, this is truly a remarkable series. The price, as I say, is very steep, and I can't say that if it hadn't been a gift I would've been able to afford it, to say nothing of affording individual seasons. But, as DVDs or inanimate objects go, I cherish my collection as a gift from my parents and in recollection of my having followed the series for years. Enjoy it.

And I say that as a hard-core Trekkie from pre-TNG days--even pre-film. The original series is probably my favorite: early imprinting. But this is the one that is the best because there is no weak link--the most enjoyable the one where I can remember no cringe-worthy moments and many that were moving or hilarious or thought-provoking. This is very different in spirit from the original show in many ways, so even if you don't like original Trek you may find yourself loving Deep Space Nine. The original was written before the rise of ensemble shows and story-telling arcs, and of all the Treks this is the one that really tells the story of a group rather than a star or even central two or three, one where story arcs are important, so it repays getting seasons and even the entire series as a whole rather than individual episodes. It's also somewhat darker in feel than the original, but still hopeful in vision.
