Barnes & Noble - Christina Urban
Beginning on Lifetime in July 2000, Strong Medicine was among the cable network's first attempts at original dramatic programming. Northern Exposure pilot-cum-love interest Janine Turner stars as Dr. Dana Stowe, the head of women's medicine and a breast-cancer specialist at fictional Rittenhouse Hospital in Philadelphia. Tough and by-the-book, she's paired with the maverick Dr. Luisa Delgado (Rosa Blasi), a dedicated doctor who previously ran the South Philadelphia Women's Clinic and did anything she could to get her patients the care they needed. Now the two doctors -- who constantly butt heads -- are brought together to head the free women's clinic at Rittenhouse. As might be expected, the series delves into topics that specifically affect women -- such as abortion, cancer, and rape -- along with other medical problems. A mainstay for the network, Strong Medicine was the brainchild of Party of Five alumnus Tammy Adler, with Whoopi Goldberg aboard as an executive producer. The frequent Oscar host also makes four guest appearances in this 22-episode run, as Dr. Lydia Emerson.

I love Strong Medicine!!! I'm so sad that it's ending, but I guess that all good things come to an end. This showed covered all the topics worth talking about and then some!!

In the fall of 2006 i just started watching this series in reruns and i am sorry that i missed it when it originaly ran on lifetime because i certainly would have taped it. This program is so interesting to watch that i stay up every night till 2:30am. And now i am going for a second round of the same. I absolutely love all of the characters and although this is a drama they manage to throw in a little bit of humor in almost every episode. Thoroughly enjoyable and worth watching even in the late am hours.
