Overview

A joint effort of filmmakers McG, Eric Kripke, and Robert Singer, the weekly, hour-long series Supernatural starred Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as Dean and Sam Winchester, the sons of a dogged and determined demon hunter. Since the death of his wife at the hands of a malevolent yellow-eyed demon, the elder Winchester refused to rest until he tracked down and vanquished other evil paranormal forces. While older son Dean willingly followed in his dad's footsteps, the young Sam was the rebel of the family, refusing to have anything to do with the supernatural and putting as much distance between himself and his father and brother as possible. But when his dad mysteriously vanished, Sam reluctantly teamed with Dean to carry on the family mission. Piling into their 1967 Chevy Impala, the Winchester boys tooled around the country investigating such familiar paranormal mythology, folklore, and urban legends as the Vanishing Hitchhiker, Bloody Mary, the Lover's Lane "Hook" Killer, and the Native American demon Wendigo, among many others. Essentially a male version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- with a few dashes of Scooby-Doo, The Hardy Boys, and Route 66 tossed in -- Supernatural was seen on Buffy's former home network the WB beginning September 13, 2005.

Excellent show that has-suspense, drama, and comedy

I took a chance and bought the first season DVD of this show. And I was hooked right from the first episode! Now I'm watching second season on tv and kicking myself for deciding not to watch last season. It really has it all-drama between the two brothers and their relationship and family life, really scary and suspenseful episodes, not just gore. And it has some funny moments, like the episode where the brothers start playing practical jokes on each other. If you liked Buffy it does remind of it a little but it's not a Buffy clone, it really is it's own show and if you like good, quality stories that include drama with suspense and scary stuff and a dash of comedy sometimes you like this show. One of the things I like is the relationship between the two brothers both brothers really care about each other and that really comes across to the audience without either one of them seeming wimpy or anything less than two tough guys that can kick butt. And if your a girl or into guys the two brothers are very attractive which makes it even more enjoyable to watch! I would give it more stars if I could.

    I Also Recommend:

    Awesome

One of my favorite favorite shows. This is a really good show, with action, humor and mystery. Its about how two brothers, Dean and Sam go on the road in search of their father while hunting down the supernatural. Sometimes they even learn about urban legends. This reminds me of So Weird, which is another awesome show by the way. Recommend both shows.

Merge on to the haunted highway with Sam and Dean. Fasten your seat belts, tune to classic rock and have your holy water ready!!!

Usually a TV show's first season is a process of it finding it's footing. Not so with Supernatural. As fasinating and creepy as the urban legends and myths are, this is at it's heart a story of two very different brothers. They are trying to reconcile a past that won't let them live in the present and looms over their future. The writing is sharp, the special effects top notch, and in the hands of Jensen and Jared, Dean and Sam are as complex and mysterious as the supernatural beings they hunt. The DVD extras are informative and a lot of fun. WARNING...this will lead to the purchases of seasons 2,3 and soon 4!

    I Also Recommend:

    Excellent

Watch one show and you'll be addicted! Don't believe me? Try it. This is a well written, tightly woven show that just keeps getting better and better each year. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padelicki are so believable as brothers that it's almost as if these parts were created for them. The direction is perfect and the story lines are a perfect mix of suspense, drama, humor and scary. Eric Kripke has a winner with this show.

Supernatural Season 1 - A show that I can actually watch and like

Shows nowadays are either no fun or are the same every time depending on the theme or the story (like with sitcoms and soap operas, no offense to either fan who likes them). I love anything supernatural from vampires to werewolves to ghosts. I don't think I saw a commercial for this except saying coming up next and saw the pilot. It was interesting and as I watched more of the eps I started to like the show and liked the characters especially Dean LOL. This is the story that starts with brothers who go in search of their father and hunt different creatures along the way. Fave eps have to be Wendigo, Dead in the Water, Phantom Traveler (most favorite), Bloody Mary (i've always wondered what Bloody Mary was all about and was happy that the ep explored that), Hookman, Bugs, Home, Asylum (another fave), Scarecrow (fave quote Dean: Dude you fugly), Nightmare (love Brendan Fletcher who was in Ginger Snaps 2 and 3 and in the show Caitlin's Way), The Benders (a fave because it shows that it doesn't always have to be something supernatural to be evil if that makes any sense) and lastly the season finale Devil's Trap (that last shot was intense and sad). So yeah check this out if you want something different to see or if you love anything scary.

    hey

I love this season. Cause that you just learn about Dean and Sam Wenchester. And you see what they do. And they still have some rough spots with there past. With there dad. And cause that they just found him. And then there dad said kill him. Then in the second season they lose him. cause that he makes a deal with a demond. And I hope this season will be better than the last season.

    Great DVD, Great TV Show

I am a 42-year-old mother of two and look forward to Thursday nights for the sole reason of watching this show. Got the DVDs for Season 1 and have watched each one several times. Love the guys and their relationship, and the mysteries are scary without being gory. Makes for good TV!

Made So Good It's Almost Supernatural

It's scary how well this series was written, directed and produced. As HBO makes truly quality shows such as The Sopranos and Band of Brothers, Supernatural was given that leap of faith to be made with the talent and air of a motion picture. Sam and Dean start off the season with an emotional episode and each week another supernatural mystery throws another emotional blow into the fray to test their relationship. This is truly a show made from raw talent and a good eye for mystery and the supernatural. It was almost as if the great writer Jim Butcher, an author of supernatural mysteries, had written the series himself. Always a great show that never gets old. Being a writer and film-maker with a flare for this kind of fiction, this series truly seems Supernatural.

Jared, Jensen, and Plenty of Scares

I became a fan of the show when my close friend Jenni borught it to my attention last year. Since then I've gotten hooked. I've had my share of thrills, and chills with this set. I am currently watching the second season and am loving it. :)

    Love It!

I love this series along with others. I got more into it when I noticed that Jared Padalecki was in it and also Jensen Ackles. Jared was in Gilmore Girls first staring at Dean, Rory's boyfriend. Also, Jensen played Lana's boyfriend in Smallville for a short while. I love all three series.

Hottest Show On T.V.---In More Ways Than One!

Supernatural is filled with drama, action, and emotion. The actors (Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, ect.) are perfect for their parts. They make the unusual, unreal, and sometimes scary world on TV come to life with their humor.... and rugged good looks. If you want to see some hot, hot, HOT guys save the world from demons (and people), then you definitely need to catch Supernatural!!! It appears on the WB at 9 PM every Thursday night. Or, you could just buy the season! I know I am. : )
