I really love this version of Swan Lake. Gillian Murphy is an amazing Odette and Angel Corella is simply amazing as Prince Siegfried. My favorite part of the ballet that I watch over and over again is the ending. It is very beautiful. I would recommend this to ballet lovers of all ages. Something that you can watch again and again for years to come.

I love this version of Swan Lake! I haven't seen a production like this this in years. With Gillian Murphy's technique and grace it really put some meaning into the ballet!

The exceptional balance between music and beautifully coordinated body movements by the American Ballet Theatre, makes this interpretation of Swan Lake an unique and lasting pleasurable experience. The tasteful stages, attires and overall direction are equally complemented by excellent audio and visual technology. The John Kennedy historical introduction gives an extra sense of pride to this outstanding American Ballet Theatre production. The very reasonable cost of the DVD amply provides a valuable intellectual and esthetic experience.

After seeing another version on PBS and then attending the New York Ballet's production recently in Saratoga, NY, I have to say that this DVD was icing on the cake. Wishing that I'd had the opportunity to attend this particular performance, as it would have been a slice of heaven. My only gripe is the politicizing of this wonderful DVD. How sad that even the arts must be a target for blatant political endorsements.

This DVD is amazing. Gillian's grace and beauty make her perfect for the role of Odette-Odile. Angel was definently at his best in this performance, and I preferred it over any other work that I've seen by him. I could watch this over and over again!

The choreography and performances are wonderful. Unfortunately, the DVD cannot match the original Great Performances broadcast in 1080i high definition. The encoding is poor, and motion artifacts are present throughout. This is especially evident the 3rd Act court interior scenes which also suffer from oversaturated, and poor color correction. The dancers are unintentionally ethereal, as the viewer can readily see the background through the figures as their movements accelerate. Too bad, because the scene in which 'von Rothbart enthralls the court' is deviously brilliant. Buy this for the performances, especially the stunning Gillian Murphy. Otherwise, wait for the high definition version, which hopefully will exhibit the quality of the original footage.

For me, this performance has the most excitement and passion, as well as widescreen photography and gorgeous sound. The principals are fantastic here, and the whole experience leaves one breathless.

Wonderful..Kevin McKenzie's choreography stays true to Petipa/Ivanov original...Brought back memories of David Blair's version...Dancers Murphy & Corella great, again memories of Makarova & Nagy, also great...ABT certainly knows how to handle the classics...HHIGHLY RECOMMENDED...
