John Lithgow playfully narrates the title story, adapted from Shrek creator William Steig's Caldecott Honor book, and brought to the screen by Academy Award winner Gene Deitch (Munro). Sylvester is a donkey whose joy at finding a wish-granting pebble is short-lived when, in a moment of lion-induced panic, he wishes he were a rock. "Possum Magic," written and narrated by Mem Fox, gives viewers a real taste of Australia, as Grandma Poss searches for the right ingredient to restore Hush, whom she made invisible to protect her from snakes. Charlotte Huck's "Princess Furball" is an enchanting Cinderella story about a "strong, capable, and clever" princess whose father intends to marry off to an ogre. As with all the entries in this series, this volume vividly illustrates the magic that happens every time you open a book.
