The Adventures of Ford Fairlane

( 5 )

Overview

Controversial and often offensive stand-up comedian Andrew Dice Clay made his debut as a feature film star in this crude comedy. Fairlane is a "rock and roll detective" who works in the music business, has an office on Sunset Boulevard, and drives a 1957 Ford, with clothing to match. He floats through the rock clubs of Hollywood, picking up women and clients, and soon stumbles into a case involving the death of a heavy metal singer, a corrupt music executive Wayne Newton, the murder of a radio shock-jock Gilbert ...

Music stars like Sheila E. and Motley Crue singer Vince Neil also have cameos in the film, which attempts to transplant Clay's aggressively obnoxious stage persona into a movie environment.

    A reviewer

This is a pretty entertaining movie, as I recall, but not exactly super hilarious or super clever. At this point in his career, the Diceman had become very well known, and I get the feeling that this was somewhat of a standard movie to cash in on that notoriety. Not necessarily as funny or as shocking as some of his stand-up material, but still worth a look, partly because it's a slice of American pop culture history.

    surprising

It's ironic, I generally hate the Diceman but I loved this movie. It may have something to do with the people I was hanging with at the time, I'll have to see it again. I enjoyed how ridiculous it was, never taking itself seriously. The diceman personality was put in an over-the-top faux-noir context and it really worked for me. The people they got for the support roles was great too -- wayne newton? Priscilla Presley? crazy stuff.

All the best Dice lines in one movie

This movie is chalked full of great Dice man one liners. The supporting cast of Ed O'Neil, Wayne Newton, Gilbert Gottdfried, Lauren Holly, Robert Englund and Priscilla Presley help make this movie an over the top comedy. A must have in your comedy collection.

    It's a funny movie.

I was actually surprised with this one. Most people didn't even bother to watch this movie. I think they actually missed out. It has alot of laughs. I guess you gotta appreciate dice to appreciate this movie. Ed O'neil was hilerious in this movie.
