    Very Good!

I finally saw this movie, after friends & family kept telling me to see it, and I thought it was excellent! A very touching, heart warming true story about a real life football player! I admit that I am not much into professional football, though I do like some college ball, but none the less, this is a great, inspirational show to be enjoyed by all. Just be wary with your kids though, because there are a couple of adult situations and a bit of violence & such in one spot. Other than that, I highly recommend everyone see this movie.

    The Blind Side

Micheal Oher (Quinton Aaron) was a large black kid who grew up in the Memphis projects living on people's couches because his crack addicted mom was unfit to take care of him. One day, Tony Hamilton (Omar J Dorsey), trying to enroll his kid into Wingate Christian School, also gets Micheal enrolled in the school. Moving from place to place to find shelter, Michael finally comes across Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy (Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw) who invite him to stay at their house, and eventually invite him to be a part of their family.

The story of Micheal Oher is really a quite amazing one. Oher traveled from place to place never really having a place to stay, until he was invited by the Tuohy's to stay with them. Having never remained in a school for more than a year, and failing miserably, the Tuohy's helped him raise his grades to be able to play football (and basketball) in school. Eventually this lead to him being one of the most sought after high school players for college recruiters. Just before the 2009 NFL season he became a first round draft pick for the Baltimore Ravens and became the 2009 Rookie of the Year. With such an amazing story of "rags to riches" how does Oher's story translate to film?

Very well. One thing that surprised me, and I found refreshing was the fact that a such an openly Christian family was actually treated respectfully and without ridicule. I say this because the movie itself actually has a genuine spirit to it, it doesn't feel like a by the numbers inspirational sports movie. The writing does a great job keeping many of the true things that happened in real life in the movie, moving things around as is typically necessary for screen stories, without making things feel forced. As sports movies go, this movie feels fresher than many that have come in recent years.

This, of course, is the movie that not only earned Sandra Bullock her first Oscar nomination, but her first Oscar win as well and for good reason. Playing a character based on a real person is already a daunting task, but for an actress known most for playing America's sweetheart type roles, playing a strong willed genuinely philanthropic Christian woman is definitely not easy, but Bullock equips herself well and steals the movie. And Quinton Aaron as Michael Oher does a fantastic job playing Oher as a person who is shy, quiet, and even somewhat cynical, but doesn't allow his cynicism to define him. Throughout the film we watch these layers removed as he becomes more ingrained in the Tuohy household.

My biggest problem with the movie is some of the changes they make to this already fantastic true story. Michael Oher already knew how to play football before being placed on the team at Briarcrest (the real school that he attended while in the Tuohy home). Making it seem as though he didn't, to me, is an insult to the true character this film is trying to portray. On top of that the story, as portrayed in the film, is a little too good to be true. The lack of an inner struggle for the main character, as well as the lack of an outer struggle throughout most of the movie drags it down a few notches.

All in all, I think it was a really good movie, and while it might not be an Oscar worthy movie on the best picture front, its definitely one of the better inspirational sports movies to come out in recent memory. Check it out for the performances, the heart warming story, and the inspiration that you will derive from it.

    Transformed.

The Blind Side, with Sandra Bullock, this was a great movie. It was very close to the original book of the same title by Michael Lewis. The protagonist, Michael, (also called "Big Mike") was well developed as well as the characters of the members of the Touhy family. Leigh Ann was especially developed and believable as the Southern "go-getter," and "tough" yet loving mother. Truly this was a DVD worth watching, the realism just keeps your attention. S.J.'s character adds some laughter to this drama that helps "lighten-up" the mood. Even though there are moments of violence, drug use, and sexually suggestive behavior this DVD is still a great investment.

    A must see for everyone

The Blind Side tells the real-life story of a hulking, homeless African-American teenager who is taken in by a well-to-do southern white family. At first glance, you'd think that Michael Oher is the clear winner in the deal - with the Touhy family's help, he goes from life on the streets to an eventual starring role on the football field. But this isn't a one-sided arrangement. With Big Mike's help, the Touhys learn to see beyond their upper-class world and also come to understand the importance of family.

Sandra Bulloch shines in the role of Leigh Anne, the headstrong yet soft-hearted matriarch who feels compassion for the boy and brings him into her home. Quinton Aaron plays Michael, the gentle giant who's finally able to reach his potential. The talented cast also features country music legend Tim McGraw and Kathy Bates.

    Inspiring

    Inspiring!
This is an amazing movie. The fact that this is based on a true story is incredible. Some might hesitate to invite an unknown African American large teenager into their household with their two children however that's what this movie is all about. A family that opened up their doors and their arms to help someone in need. Quinton Aaron, the actor that plays Oher should receive an award for his performance , and you will love , Leigh Ann Touhy, Sandra Bullock's spunky character. This story portrays the sad reality that many youth are living with no hope of getting out of their situation. The relationship that forms between S.J and Michael is endearing . This movie offers hope that there are still good people who do good things without expecting or wanting anything in return. Stick around after the credits for pictures and footage of the real Michael Oher

    Must Have

"The Blind Side" is an excellent movie! While best viewed on the big screen, it's worth seeing over and over. If you didn't see it at the theater, buy this now. If you did see it at the theater, you know it's a "Must Have" for your video collection. It's sad, funny, exciting, action-packed, thought provoking, inspiring, and just thoroughly entertaining. Sandra Bullock does an excellent job; Tim McGraw was great without his cowboy hat; Quinton Aaron was terrific as Michael Oher; and the lad who plays S. J. Tuohy (Sandra's son in the film) was hilarious. If nothing else, you'll want this movie for the cameos by numerous college football coaches. Those scenes are priceless!

    Loving the Blind Side

I actually saw this movie in theaters on a whim and loved it. I knew it was a must buy and purchased it shortly after it came out.
Sandra Bullock's character is so great! You can't help but like it. The movie is definitely predictable, but it makes you feel so happy that you don't care! It's also full of great one-liners.
    A must see for everyone!

FAMILY & LOVE DO MATTER IN LIFE

What can I say... This movie was so heart warming... Seeing Sandra Bullock in a part different from her normal romantic comedies was surprising... Though I've always liked her acting, she really stepped out of her normal roles to portray a true life woman... Loved it, Loved it, Loved it...

    THe Blind Side

Much has been written concerning the content of The Blind Side and I see no reason for further comment; however, I would like to say that B&N's service was exemplary. From order to delivery without having requested special service, I received the discs within 4 days. Quite impressive.

    Fantastic Movie, a must see

The Blind Side is a touching movie that everyone should see. It is a true example of what it is to trust your instincts, take a chance, and make a difference in someones life. Sandra Bullock made an exceptional performance; totally different than her previous movies. Sandra has a real talant for playing the role of a serious, no nonsense character. But, the real star of the movie was Quinton Aaron. He performed a real mixture of emotions, from hurt and in need to gifted yet humble. Most of all, he shows that people in poverty are good people, wanting a chance to do more, worthy of our trust, and capable of much more than lifes circumstances present them to be.
