The Boys Next Door

( 1 )

Overview

Teenage angst runs amuck in the Charlie Sheen vehicle The Boys Next Door. Presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, Anchor Bay has done an excellent job of cleaning up this print and making sure it's void of any major (or even minor) defects. There is a slight amount of fading in the colors, due more to the age of the film than to the transfer. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 and works well in the confines of the film. All aspects of the dialogue, effects, and cheesy '80s music are clear and concise....

There is a slight amount of fading in the colors, due more to the age of the film than to the transfer. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 and works well in the confines of the film. All aspects of the dialogue, effects, and cheesy '80s music are clear and concise. No alternate soundtracks or subtitles are included on this disc. Once again Anchor Bay has thrown together a few extra supplements for a film that normally would have received only bare-bones treatment. A commentary track by director Penelope Spheeris and actor Maxwell Caulfield is both funny and informative. Both participants seem to get a lot of enjoyment out of revisiting this 1986 relic and as such have much to discuss. Also included on this disc are some mildly interesting cast and crew biographies, as well as a theatrical trailer of the film. If you're into high hair and rock stars like Billy Idol, The Boys Next Door is your type of DVD.
