Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
The second chapter of the story of the lovely lady, a man named Brady, and their blended families finds the Brady clan "going through changes" and coming of age in some of this series' most fondly remembered episodes. In "Our Son, the Man," Greg demands his own space and transforms Mike's den with psychedelic posters and groovy furnishings. In "The Not-So-Ugly Duckling," Jan invents an imaginary boyfriend, George Glass "He thinks I'm super-cool", and in "Will the Real Jan Brady," she tries some extreme makeovers to make herself feel less plain. In "The Liberation of Marcia Brady," Marcia joins the all-boy Frontier Scouts. And in "A Fistful of Reasons," Peter learns to defend himself after bully Buddy Hinton teases the lisping Cindy "Baby talk, baby talk, it's a wonder you can walk". Over the course of these 24 episodes, there are many life lessons to be learned about the perils of smoking "Where There's Smoke", tattling "The Tattle-Tale", jumping to conclusions "The Slumber Caper", and practical jokes "The Impractical Joker". While the writers are still tinkering with this iconic family, the ensemble has clearly formed a close-knit bond. The Brady Bunch is irresistible nostalgia that, in its own corny way, "tells it like it is."
