The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, written by C.S. Lewis, is an intense journey of four children as they escape their less then desirable earthily situation into a mystical magical world of adventure. As the kids struggle to understand themselves and their purpose they receive guidance by prominent wholesome characters who help them realize their true potential and purpose. Eventually, the children realize they will become what they make of themselves-"let us go on and take the adventure that shall fall to us" (p. 187)-which gives the book a great moral for all ages. Unfortunately, the author starts the book off rather slowly but gains interest as the story line proceeds. There is also some violence, in a battle, at the end of the book. Other then that I would highly recommend this book to every age group. C.S. Lewis is really good at grabbing your attention and emotions and running with them. Once you get to the core of this book you will not be able to put it down. It is easy light reading and overall enjoyable. It is truly an escape to a different world.
this movie is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe has been one of my favorite books since I first read the entire series in 5th grade. I've read it several times since and read it to my children too. I was afraid the movie couldn't live up to my expectations. Thankfully, the movie is wonderful. I still recommend reading the book, since it's a different experience -- but I'm glad to say the movie is excellent. I know I'll be watching it many, many times over the coming years!
I saw the previews for "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" and knew that I had to see it. I can honestly say that it's one of the best movies ever. It stays pretty accurate to the book. The actors did a fabulous job, and the sets were fantastic. It really made you believe that Narnia was a real place.
This movie is the best Narnia movie ever made!!! It may well be the best fantasy movie ever!! The entire Lord of the Rings trilogy doesn't come close to this newest Chronicles of Narnia DVD!!! I highly recommend this amazing family film for anyone of every age.
In addition to being a good story for all, even if Christian allegories are not your cup of tea, 'The Chronicles of Narnia' is a visually stunning film, espcially when the four children venture into their magical land. (There is one scene that looks like classic rear screen projection, which wil probably be cleaned up for DVD release.) A good looking film always adds to the story by being believable. Good and evil is the theme beyond Christianity. As in 'Rings,' there is a definite sense of right and wrong in this movie: The White Queen is wrong and those who oppose her ARE right. Enjoy! i repect peoples' opinions but how can anyone give this movie lower than 5 stars!!!!!!!!! the special effects were amazing and the cast was unbelievable. this movie and book had a message and i hope you learn that message and if not then you obviously missed an important lesson. so all i have to say is that im shocked that you cannot see the message the goodnes and the amazing script and cast. so, please watch the movie again and maybe you'll see the impotance behind it not just the spiritual one but the joy of a child getting away to a fantasy world during a time of war and sadness. if you cannot see both of these messages then you cannot give this movie less then 5 stars for you didnot learn the message therefor you didnot see the movie and cannot give it such critcism.5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie's special effects were amazing! I saw this movie twice in the theatres, and both times, I was amazed at the thing that technology has accomplished. This movie is great for all fairytale lovers, there is some violence but they're careful not to show too much blood. Overall, this movie is one of the greatest epic fantasies I have seen in a while. A definite see!
Great movie. Best of the year. Something for both younger and older generation.
I had read the book when I was young and I am so glad they finally made it into a movie. We took my grandsons to the movie with us and they were thrilled with the movie, as we were, and they couldn't wait for it to come out on DVD. I truly hope they make movies of the rest of the series!!!
I love this movie. My mom read the book to me when I was 7. When I heard that there was a movie about it I freaked out! !!!!!! My friend and I talk non-stop about it !!! The casting is amazing!! William , Anna, Skandar and Georgie are exactly like their characters!!! If you haven't seen this you're missing out. I have the movie memorized and I listen to the soundtrack all the time!
I am a teacher and had just finished reading the original novel by C.S. Lewis to my fifth grade class. I went an saw the movie that night and was amazed at how well of a job Hollywood had done with it. The movie followed the book almost word for word. Disney gets huge props from movie on a job well done. The action, the suspense, and the excellent costumes were all breathtaking!
I have been an avid reader of the Narnia stories for years, so I was not sure when this movie came out how faithful it would be to the original idea. I was pleasantly surprised. It is much better done and more believable than the BBC vidoes done in the 80s. There are some story lines inserted into the script, but overall, the foundationl themes of betrayal and redemption come shining through. Lucy's character was especially good, and the Witch sent chills through me. I look forward to more Narnia movies, especially when/if they do the "Dawn Treader", which is my favorite Narnia book.
I was really scared that they would run the movie into the ground and just completly go off the book but they didn't. I thought that the movie was great.I'm a big fan of the books. They did a really great job on this movie.
