The Crow: Salvation

( 5 )

Overview

Justice returns in The Crow: Salvation, the third entry into this successful series based on the hit comic book. Dimension has done a very fine job on this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Only a small amount of grain mars the image while the rest of the picture includes bright, contrasting colors and crisp-looking black levels. Overall, this is a very nice-looking print that should please Crow fans. The audio is presented in both Dolby Digital 5.1 as well as DTS 5.1 Surround. Happily, both of these audio ...

Overall, this is a very nice-looking print that should please Crow fans. The audio is presented in both Dolby Digital 5.1 as well as DTS 5.1 Surround. Happily, both of these audio tracks feature aggressive sound mixes that utilize both the front and rear speakers during most of the feature. All aspects of the soundtrack display a warm, clear feel that includes no distortion or hiss. Also included on this disc are English subtitles. The Crow: Salvation also offers fans a few interesting extra features to look through. The first is a commentary track by director Bharat Nalluri, producer Jeff Most, composer Marco Beltrami, production designer Maia Javan, and actor Eric Mabius. The participants seem to have recorded each track separately, and then they were edited together to make up this amusing and insightful commentary track. A few featurettes are included that run between two and eight minutes in length each, and they are mostly fluffy filler that touch upon only minor details of the production. Finally, there is some DVD-ROM content in the form of a screenplay viewer and some web links.

    Excellent Addition

    Excellent Addition

I'm a fan of the Crow. The original and this are the two best in the series.

Eric Mabius, playing Alex Corvis, is a worthy successor to the Crows power. The crow isn't a hero, he's a destroyer. An Avenging Angel. This movie is action packed. Each moment, from Corvis's resurrection to the end credits, is thrilling

He hunts the dirty cops who murdered the woman he loves, and framed him for her murder. His quest for revenge takes many lives - those who killed him and those foolish enough to stand between him and his revenge. The story graphically demonstrates police corruption, and dramatically shows civilian outrage about that corruption.

    good... but not AS good...

To state the mood of the majority of crow fans, this movie was an excellent adaption of a story, but sadly it followed almost the exact same storyline as the original. While well acted and reasonably directed, the storyline was simply too tired to provide an exciting experience for anyone who saw the excellent first installment of the cult series.
