The Dixie Chicks: Top of the World TourDirector: Dixie Chicks
Cast: Dixie Chicks
This disc documents the 2003 World tour from the award wining country group The Dixie Chicks. Although the group was met with a certain amount of criticism for their outspoken political views, this DVD concerns itself primarily with the band's songs. Consisting of eighteen live performances taken from various stops on the tour, the disc is augmented by the inclusion of the music video for "Top of the World." The DVD offers a standard full-frame transfer. The English soundtrack is excellent and has been mixed in such a way that the band's distinct harmonies and musical prowess rings through.

The is the best music DVD that I've ever seen. It's a solid ten in my book.
If this DVD were captioned or subtitled, I would buy it, as I like the Dixie Chicks and would like to watch them sing and know the words. Since it doesn't say, I have to assume it would not help me, but I can say that the songs are excellent. I love Godspeed, I would love to watch it with the words.
With all the controversy, it must be that a lot of people gave this DVD a pass. That's too bad, because I think it is simply amazing. I bought it a few months ago and was blown away! It is fantastic! My DVD player holds five discs and I haven't taken the Chicks DVD out yet. I've watched it over and over.
If you loved the 'Top of the World' CD (as did I), save your money on the DVD. It contains most of the tracks from the CD, but the concert footage is often simply a match of visuals with music. If you're looking for the actual video of the songs as they're being sung, this DVD isn't it. The big tip off is when the Chicks appear in different outfits during the same song. Moreover, it appears that where they didn't have the footage, e.g., 'Truth No. 2', they simply omitted the song from the DVD. This is a very disappointing DVD.
I used to really love the Dixie Chicks and then they did their version of the great Fleetwood Mac song, 'Landslide,' which is as horrible on radio, on the album, and on Divas Las Vegas as it is here. Very sad. Poor Stevie Nicks.
I really enjoyed their songs, performance, and their voice. They are not only great country music singers but also great artists.
This is a well choreographed production of the Dixie Chicks' Top of the World tour in 2003. It is very interesting to see the Chicks sing a single song but it's shown in all the venue and attire changes over the entire tour. The music and band is impeccable, and, yes, you can pick up some if their blossoming defiance in not only the lyrics but also their mid-session comments. Prepare yourself for a fine cinematic production of one the most honest and heartfelt concerts you ever missed.
