The Doodlebops - Superstars

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
The Doodlebops' growing legion of fans will flip their noodles over this four-episode collection from the wildly popular live-action Disney Channel preschool series starring Canada's answer to the Wiggles. DeeDee, Rooney, and Moe are three highly animated personalities with brightly colored costumes, face paint, and wigs. In each fast-paced episode, the Doodlebops jump, hop, and sing their way through stories that reinforce lessons about working, living, and playing together. In "Photo Op," the episode that launched the series, the trio learns it's best to get along rather than bicker over which one of them should have their picture on a magazine cover. In "Count On Me," a parade distracts the Fab Three from fulfilling their promise to answer their fan mail. In "Cauliflower Power," Rooney learns it's good to try new things. In "What When Why?" the answers to Rooney's incessant questions save the day. Recurring bits in every episode add to the anticipatory fun and encourage viewer interaction, from helping DeeDee and Rooney discover "Where's Moe?" and reciting the Doodlebop Pledge ("I promise to care / I promise to share") to yelling out to Moe, "Don't pull the rope" (the Doodlebops' answer to the Wiggles' "Wake Up, Jeff!"). Viewers will also look forward to appearances by rhyming, scat-singing Mazz and friendly Bus Driver Bob, who transports the group to their concert performances before appreciative audiences of children and parents. DeeDee's knock-knock jokes, assorted puppets, cartoonish sound effects, and footage of children prompting the viewers at home fill in any momentary lulls. With their own series, concert tours, and CDs, the Doodlebops are well on their way to becoming Superstars.
