The Double-D Avenger

Overview

The world's leading drive-in critic Joe Bob Briggs is back again, presenting only the best in Elite's back catalogue of winners. This time, it's William Winckler's shameless ode to Russ Meyer vixens from yesteryear, The Double-D Avenger. It's not often that a commentary becomes the most important thing on a DVD, but when you're dealing with trash flicks like this, Joe Bob's stamp of info-packed hilarity is easily the main attraction for the disc (proven by his outstanding tracks on Elite's Jesse James Meets ...

Overview

The world's leading drive-in critic Joe Bob Briggs is back again, presenting only the best in Elite's back catalogue of winners. This time, it's William Winckler's shameless ode to Russ Meyer vixens from yesteryear, The Double-D Avenger. It's not often that a commentary becomes the most important thing on a DVD, but when you're dealing with trash flicks like this, Joe Bob's stamp of info-packed hilarity is easily the main attraction for the disc (proven by his outstanding tracks on Elite's Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter and I Spit on Your Grave discs). Between his incomparable knowledge of synonyms for the female breast and exhaustive research skills (it seems aging starlet Haji goes so far as to claim that she's an alien!), the track is a home run of entertainment that sleazoid genre fans will eat up. Other extras include the original trailer, along with an infomercial-styled cable spot for the first DVD release and a whopping 76-minute behind-the-scenes featurette (which is almost longer than the actual movie, and just as painful too!). Finishing off with a photo gallery, the disc's extras turn out to be surprisingly packed for such a Z-grade title. All you really need is that commentary though -- don't be surprised if you never really end up watching any of that other stuff.
