Overview

A gay theater teacher adopts a peculiar boy with the hope that he will one day take over the academy, but instead the pair falls into a deeply dysfunctional - and potentially dangerous - relationship. Danny Ziegfeld was a well-known figure in the Provincetown, Massachusetts theater scene until the day his troupe walked out on him. Dejected, Danny soon receives a welcomed visitor in the form of Gideon Bellamont, an articulate, 12-year-old homeless boy who the concerned man offers a place to stay. When Danny suffers a heart attack later that evening, Gideon saves his life by calling an ambulance. Grateful to be alive, Danny decides to adopt the boy, and mentor him. It isn't long after that skeptical Danny learns Gideon is in fact a devout Christian who has sworn his life to converting the unfaithful. Convinced that such fanaticism can't be sustained, Danny agrees to help his adoptive son, though when their attempts inspire faith through staged miracles doesn't yield the desired results, young Gideon begins focusing on more extreme methods in order to spread the good word. Unfortunately for both of them, those methods could lead to disaster.
