Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
Few literary adaptations have had the combination of success and influence that marked the BBC's 1967 production of The Forsyte Saga. Its success on National Education Television (the precursor to PBS) inspired the networks to experiment with the miniseries format, and it quickly set a benchmark for appointment viewing. This adaptation of John Galsworthy's first two novels stars Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers) as Soames Forsyte, a partner in a thriving law firm and the wealthy scion of a London family. When his wife, Irene (Gina McKee), becomes involved in a tempestuous affair, it upsets the world he's so carefully erected and tears the Forsyte family asunder. A first-rate soap opera, The Forsyte Saga has an accomplished supporting cast, including Rupert Graves (Mrs. Dalloway) and Corin Redgrave (Enigma), and deftly portrays a Victorian family's fierce struggle to survive the social complexities of a new era. Working with an artist's respect for the original series, director David Moore has created an adaptation every bit as enthralling as its predecessor.

I loved it !!! Wanted more and more. Watched it on netflex for hours till I finished it. I think they left off a episode at end that was frustrating but I am in search to find it . Yes the acting was very good. Damian should get a award for his acting no doubt.

I have only seen the first two hours of series two, but I have not been disappointed. It has romance, mystery, suspense, and even comedy. I can only hope this series continues as the book did.

I have seen this series from beginning to end. I found it extremely enjoyable, however, not as good as the first series. I highly reccomend it to anyone seeking a movie that has everything: romance, hate, love, lust, pain, joy, suspense, and keeps you wanting to know what happens next.

I watch this series air on the PBS masterpiece theater for the first time and immediately fell in love. It was so sad what happen in the end, but that how life is. I can't wait for the next series of the saga.

Highly Recommended. This series was on PBS and just finished airing. We were glued to the set every Sunday for the next installment. The first part is excellent also. Wonderful, I can't recommend it enough. Damian Lewis is Superb. He deserves an Emmy!!

John Galsworthy is a genius. I would watch this movie straight through every day if I could. That's how freakin' awesome it is!
