The second chapter of the two-part TV movie The Fortunate Pilgrim originally aired April 4, 1988. Having emigrated from Italy to the US in 1915 to seek out a better existence for her children, widowed Sophia Loren finds that her second husband, Edward James Olmos, is barely able to take care of himself. Thus Loren is virtually alone in her single-minded efforts to see her children through heartache, divisiveness and death. She remains indomitable throughout the three-hour length of Part Two, which takes the characters through the World War II years. Featured in the cast of The Fortunate Pilgrim are stars-to-be John Turturro and Annabella Scoria. Filmed in Yugoslavia, The Fortunate Pilgrim was based on an early novel by Mario Puzo.
