Overview

Iconoclast director Robert Altman's comparatively conventional film noir The Gingerbread Man comes to DVD with two different transfers. The widescreen image preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and does a far better job capturing the atmospheric photography than the standard full-frame 1.33:1 image. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. Spanish and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track by the director, cast biographies, and some theatrical trailers. Although it did not receive much of a domestic release, The Gingerbread Man may find new life on DVD thanks to the disc's fine sound and interesting commentary track.

This is another fabulous Grisham story about a Georgia lawyer caught in a web of self-destruction and other peoples' agendas. The viewer is treated to unexpected twists and turns as Grisham plays cat-and-mouse with the lead character and the viewer can only watch in tense agony.
