    A Great Workout....but Don't Buy it First.

First, let me say that I love Dolphina. She is very nuturing and inspiring instructor and I love her videos. I currently own three of her bellydance workouts (Intro, Cardio, and Beyond Basics) and they have really helped me to get in shape; bellydance is an excellent workout. However, DO NOT buy the Intro to Bellydance first if you are an absolute beginner (more experienced bellydancers, go ahead. You'll probably know the moves she's doing). I know that sounds somewhat backwards, but I'll admit that Dolphina's teaching abilities (and the camera movements) are not at their best in this video. I recommend buying the Cardio Bellydance by Dolphina first. This is the video I first bought (because I found it in my local B&N), and is the latest she has produced. Dolphina does an excellent job at instruction in Cardio, and the camera is always pulled back or focused on the correct area of the body that Dolphina is moving. If you come to enjoy Cardio, then you will probably like the Intro to Bellydance. However, I'd also like to advise that you buy Dolphina's book, which goes into detail how to perform all the moves she teaches in Intro. About this video: Dolphina teaches several moves, from head to toe (as she says), beginning with a warm up and ending with a cool down after about 30 minutes of working out. The settings are engaging and the music is beautiful and makes you want to dance. An excellent workout for any bellydancer!

Hard to Learn From this DVD

The camera shows her face too much instead of showing her whole body or the part of her body that is in action so that it is very frustrating to watch. It is hard to learn from this DVD.

It is better than people say it is!

I read the reviews after my purchase so I had the opportunity to try it and rate it against all of the reviews available. She does change clothes a lot, but I think it is great for an entry to belly dancing, she explains and you can see the part of her body that pertains to the movement she is explaining. The costumes are beautiful, she is effective and she is easy to listem to. I am very happy I bought it before reading the reviews.

    Dolphina deserves some credit.

I have done this video many, many times. I think it is fun and makes your body feel good. They do show her feet, just not all the time. I found it to be pretty easy to figure out what she was doing. The movements were new and interesting to me. Now that I know all the movements, I do work up a sweat. You'd be surprised how a hip shimmy gets your heart going!

    Better for the boys...

This video would be nice, if I only wanted to look at Dolphina's body and cute smile. But I actually wanted to learn something about belly dancing. With little in the way of instruction, this video is seriously lacking. The cameramen give more attention to Dolphina's chest than to the part of her body she is actually moving. I'm sure my boyfriend enjoyed it more than I! Don't waste your money as I did, you'll be highly disappointed.

Please read this before buying this workout...

Even though I had read bad reviews about this workout, I bought it because the idea of learning bellydance intrigued me. What a disapointment. Often times, when footwork or traveling steps are being taught, the camera stays on Dolphina' face. New moves are often shown once slowly, but then before you have time to get them down, she is doing them at twice the speed--again, the camera often isn't showing the moves. Most of the video is from her waist up, which makes learning lower body moves difficult.

    Exercise or ?

The arm part of the belly dancing was great; however, the camera focuses too much on the instructor's face and chest. I could not see how she was moving her feet; therefore, I was unable to learn the steps. Not as important but still distracting: I could tell when they dubbed her dialogue--it was like watching a Japanese movie with the actors' mouths not moving in time with the words. It was only a little fun and more frustrating than anything, but I don't blame the instructor, I blame the camera people and editing department!

If it's smiles you're looking for....

Learning bellydance and getting exercise is a win/win! This was the first video I purchased..and I was disapointed. The background and Dolphinas smile was beautiful but it wasnt what I was looking for. Alot of things are covered but you cant see her legs or feet alot of the times..to figure out what she's doing..or how she's doing it. I will say the music in the video is awesome..and available on CD..under the same name. Get that..and take what you learn from other videos..and dance baby dance!!
