This baby will keep you glued to the TV from beginning to end. Great plot, great actors, great action, great adventure, and a few laughs here and there. This ranks on the top of my list.

A group of Allied Commandos (Gregory Peck, Anthony Quayle, David Niven,Anthony Quinn, Stanley Baker, and James Darren) is given the seemingly impossible task of destroying two huge and formidable German guns that are located in an impregnable mountaintop fortress. The guns have sunk numerous Allied ships crossing the Aegean, and the Commandos are working against the clock to complete their mission before the monstrous guns claim more victims. Peck assumes leadership of the group when Quayle is hurt. After they meet up with Greek Resistance Fighters, matters soon become complicated when it becomes apparent that there is a traitor among them who is giving information to the Germans. Add to this Niven's explosives expert who is antagonistic towards Peck, and you have a first-rate action movie. Filmed in glorious technicolor and on location at Rhodes, this movie has fine acting, strong direction by J. Lee Thompson, exciting action scenes, and concise, believable dialogue that take you along on this 2 and 1/2 hour adventure and leave you wanting more. Irene Papas and Gia Scala as Greek Resistance Fighters lend strong support to the cast. This movie is every bit as good and entertaining today as it was in 1961 when I saw it as a 10-year-old boy.
